At the beginning of 2014 the publishing house is going to start a new line of inexpensive digital subscriptions under the name Need to Know. Subscriptions will include niche subjects, like cookery or travel which will be offered at lower prices, than standard access to such headings.

The price at which it will be on sale is not known yet.

The second NYT project is the new culinary online edition which will appear in addition to already existing culinary section on the newspaper website. The former culinary critic of NYT who was engaged in release of national news recently will become his editor.

According to the publishing editor of the New York Times Jill Abramson, edition should be the leading force which defines further ways of development of journalism in publishing holding and invents new products.

Innovations should strengthen edition positions in the media market while growth of paid subscribers of NYT practically stopped, and market situation of online advertizing is not stable. However analysts warn that you should not expect profit increase in the near future[1].
