2017: Launch of bus production in Vladimir region

On December 21, 2017, in the village of Khryastovo, Vladimir Region, a scientific and industrial complex for the production of Volgabas-Vladimir buses (part of the Bakulin Motors Group holding) was launched. The volume of investments in the project at the first stage amounted to 3.5 billion rubles. The key financial partner of the project was Vostochny Bank.

The company will produce large-class gas-engine buses, as well as electric buses. The latter have proven themselves on test tests and are ready for mass production. The design capacity of the first stage of the research and production complex will be up to 1000 buses per year, which is expected to increase the share of Bakulin Motors Group (Volgabus trademark) in the large-class bus market to 20%.

According to the Bakulin Motors Group holding, Volgobas-Vladimir became the first bus plant built in Russia in 30 years. At the same time, the construction of the first stage was completed in just 3 years. The plant meets modern automotive standards, including the presence of robotic complexes for body welding, laser cutting and metal processing. The use of highly efficient machines reduces the cost of production, including energy costs, and increases labor productivity at the enterprise to the level of world automakers.

The construction of the plant in the Vladimir region was due to a number of important factors, such as regional tax incentives for investors, the presence of highly qualified scientific and working personnel in the region, and proximity to the Nizhny Novgorod automobile cluster. The output of production to the design capacity will give a cumulative effect for the regional economy and also orders for partner companies, the holding is convinced.

As of the end of 2017, more than 30 domestic manufacturers of components for buses are involved in cooperation. Thanks to the plant, 280 jobs have already been created, the number of which is expected to reach 500 in 2018.

According to Bakulin Motors Group, the company's products are able to compete with many foreign counterparts. Negotiations on the supply of electric buses are already underway with the states of the Middle and Middle East, countries of Africa and Eastern Europe.
