2019: Boom of data centers. Microsoft, Google and Volkswagens urge on it

At the beginning of December, 2019 the ZDNet edition published material in which told about a boom in the Norwegian market of data centers. The large companies, including Microsoft, Google and Volkswagen, willingly start DPCs in this country in many respects at the expense of favorable for such projects to climate.

Microsoft until the end of 2019 will open two new data centers in Norway near the cities of Stavanger and Oslo. Google for the similar project purchased section of 481 an acre near the city of Shiyen on the southern coast of Norway.

ZDNet published material in which told about a boom in the Norwegian market of data centers

In June, 2019 Volkswagen Group rented capacities for high-performance computing in two data centers of Green Mountain company in Ryyukana.

Meanwhile, Green Mountain announced construction of a new data processing center near Oslo. And the operator of services of a collocation DigiPlex in September, 2019 of the beginnings builds two DPCs at once.

In addition to, climate growth of the Norwegian market of services of data centers is promoted by the cheap electric power – at least, for operators of such objects as programs of preferential taxation work in the country.

Stable stock of renewable energy — an important factor when choosing the place for DPC and the main competitive advantage of Norway. In this country the share of the electric power which is made from renewable sources reaches 98%. The most part of electricity is generated at the expense of hydroelectric power stations.

Development of the industry of DPC in many respects depends also on efficiency of transport infrastructure. The data center can be constructed in any point of the country, including in rural areas, but highways and other transport infrastructure will be necessary for its work and effective movement of employees.

For the solution of this task the government invests 933 billion Norwegian kroner in development of transport connection during the period from 2018 to 2019.[1]
