IBM Health Corps

IBM Health Corps is the program designed to eliminate unequal access to services of health care, to improve quality and efficiency of medical care. The cross-disciplinary commands consisting of five-six leading experts of the company take part in the program.

Within a month they have preproject training, and then, having arrived to the place of project implementation, for three weeks work with representatives of the private sector and the non-profit organizations rendering services in the field of health care. In the project progress of a command use developments of IBM in the field of data processing, cognitive and cloud computing, application development, Internet of Things, consulting in the field of meteorology and health care.

2016: The first winners of the program

At the end of September, 2016 IBM declared the first winners of the medical Health Corps program. Within the next six months the most talented staff of the company from the different countries will render free consulting services in the field of health care which total market value is $2.5 million.

Grants of IBM Health Corps were received by the American oncological society (ACS), the Dyuksky medical center and the Center of public health care in Dyyuk, memorial Institute Gorgasa (Panama), the RAD-AID organization and the centers for control of diseases on Taiwan (CDC).

The first projects are designed to increase availability of the medicines applied at chemotherapy in the countries of Africa located to the south from the Sahara and also more effectively to trace and control a Zika virus, Dengue fever and other infections transferred by mosquitoes in Taiwan and Panama.

Besides, they will promote more reasonable socially oriented medical care in southeast states of the USA and will help to make radiodiagnosis more available in the countries with the low level of availability of health care.
