ZTE won tender on construction of national network ShPD of Belarus

Background of the project

The ZTE company became exclusive equipment supplier for IP television in 2007, and since then delivered to the operator more than 1.5 million ADSL modems (data of May, 2011). Aiming at development of cooperation with BelTelecom, ZTE took part in the tender for project implementation for construction of national network of broadband access and was selected by the operator for deployment of FTTH network.

On May 31, 2011 the ZTE Corporation company one of the largest global manufacturers of telecommunication equipment and the supplier of network solutions, announced a victory in the tender for participation in the project of BelTelecom company for construction of national network of broadband access in Republic of Belarus.

According to terms of the contract, ZTE will use GPON (a gigabit passive optical network) of technology for design and deployment of national network FTTH (optical fiber to the subscriber) for BelTelecom. Being a crucial element of strategy of BelTelecom on deployment of network of broadband access, this project is aimed at construction of high-speed network through the whole country.

Project Steps

The project includes a number of stages. At the first stage it is going to develop network in all six areas of the country, including the capital of the country – the city of Minsk. The subsequent stages will consist in expansion of network. Project implementation will provide to subscribers of BelTelecom through the whole country access to data services and video services, remote education and telemedicine due to high-speed Internet access and also to the high definition television (HDTV).

The implemented solution

The solution of ZTE company on deployment of FTTH network is founded on the integrated platform of access for new generation ZXA10 C300 which provides the greatest switching capability in the industry. For satisfaction of various requests of users different terminals of fiber optic network are used. The solution EasyService on operation and maintenance allows to manage terminals, to quickly provide services and to reveal faults on all network. A victory of ZTE in the tender of Beltelekom for construction of FTTH network was it is also caused by the fact that ZTE creates the solutions taking into account requirements for environment protection, constantly develops and improves them and also has convenient technical support service.

The vice president of ZTE KSU Ming (Xu Ming) said: "We always paid attention to creation of network of broadband access by Beltelekom. Since the beginning of delivery of ZTE of stationary modems we constantly developed special products and services for the operator. Thanks to a victory in the tender we will be able to help our old customer to unroll network of broadband access using the latest technologies". The victory in the tender for construction of national network for GPON technology will also allow ZTE to create the complete solution integrating high-speed access to network on GPON technologies, IP television and functions of access point that will allow to accelerate in the future project implementation and will simplify operation and network maintenance.
