2020: Obtaining the certificate of TIER-Ready III for SmartMod of PFM infrastructure

On March 11, 2020 the Vertiv company announced entry into the market of ready modular data processing centers of PFM (from engl. (PreFabricated Modular Data Center) which were certified according to the TIER-Ready program from Uptime Institute, the providing high level of fault tolerance. Thanks to cooperation with Uptime Institute company, Vertiv will be able to provide to final customers of the solution PFM with all advantages of certification of TIER Certification of Constructed Facility (TCCF).

According to the company, use of PFM models from Vertiv signed TIER-Ready is a guarantee that after deployment infrastructure will be able quickly to receive the certificate of TCCF. Such PFM solutions of Vertiv are already available in Europe, in the Middle East and in Africa (EMEA region). It is expected that by the end of 2020 the TIER-Ready program will be applied worldwide.

TIER-Ready Partnership is the strategic agreement according to which certain models of ready modular DPCs (PFM) from Vertiv are checked by experts of Uptime Institute. Testing is performed on blueprint stages and developments for a guarantee that solutions conform to requirements of the TIER Standard of Topology standard recognized around the world. Within the partnership agreement the Vertiv company successfully underwent technical audit of Uptime Institute on obtaining the certificate of TIER-Ready III for SmartMod of the PFM infrastructure allowing to place up to 10 racks with IT loading up to 80 kW. The infrastructure facilities unrolled using ready-made solutions of SmartMod according to the TIER-Ready program can receive in the mildest terms the certificate of TCCF from Uptime Institute.

Approach using PFM is a method of deployment of DPCs in "net space" at much smaller number of the transactions necessary for installation on an object in comparison with DPCs with traditional architecture. For March, 2020 PFM systems are extremely popular — especially in developing countries — as a method of fast deployment of DPCs (including peripheral). They allow to avoid already usual difficulties of process of commissioning, simplify system integration and increase quality of testing. For March, 2020 according to analysts from company 451 Research, in the next five years the market of ready modular DPCs will extend, and the cumulative annual average growth rate (CAGR) will be 14.4% by 2021 along with growth market size to 4.4 billion US dollars.

TIER Standard of Topology Uptime Institute is an industry standard of reliability and fault tolerance of DPCs. It gives to customers all grounds for confidence that the DPCs which underwent certification of TIER will function definitely, quite in abnormal operating conditions, for example, after shutdown of power supply. Uptime Institute submitted the program of assessment and certification of TIER-Ready to give to suppliers of PFM systems an opportunity to propose solutions of the same levels of reliability and fault tolerance which were already reached in thousands DPCs worldwide. The TIER-Ready program accelerates and optimizes process of obtaining the certificate of TCCF due to reduction of time of technical assessment of risks which usually is required for each set DPC. As the PFM solution with the certificate of TIER-Ready, Vertiv SmartMod of 80 kW provides saving of time and costs for engineering inspection of assembly and installation that will allow to find more time for end consumers.

2011: Demonstration of mobile container data center of SmartMod

The Emerson Network Power company, the world developer of the systems of ensuring continuity of business processes (Business-Critical Continuity) held an event for the partners, customers and distributors within which it also showed mobile container data center of SmartMod.

In the first day, on Wednesday May 18, 2011, within the forum the most topical issues of work of a data processing center were brought up. Technical experts, specialists and also other responsible managers of Emerson company and its partners, such as IBM, shared experience of performance improvement, efficiency and operational readiness of data center. Verner Kuhn, the vice president of Avocent for products and Emerson Network Power services, opened a forum, having told about the company in general. He devoted the second performance to an infrastructure management system of DPC which purpose is cutting of costs for operation of data center — Data Center Infrastructure Management.

Ilyenko Stanislav, the commercial director of Chloride told about the cost of operation of uninterruptible power supply units and methods of cost reduction on them. Guests estimated an opportunity to see, touch and estimate the container SmartMod system, and the senior manager on products of the company in detail told about this solution Emerson Network Power of Diego Chizen. SmartMod is designed using the equipment of Emerson (series APM, Liebert CRV) and also equipped with own monitoring system and managements.

On May 19, 2011, as guests partners of Emerson Network Power were invited. Solutions for data processing centers were the most discussed subjects this day. The mobile (modular) container data center of SmartMod became the most interesting to guests, as well as in the first day of an action — within the action they had an opportunity to study a system in work in detail. Specialists of Emerson Network Power on site gave comments and answered any interesting questions of visitors. In only two days of stay in Moscow of mobile data center which route includes a set of the cities of Europe more than 150 guests of Emerson Network Power company could visit and study it, reported in the company.
