"Initial date of the project it is possible to consider 2002 when we for the purpose of increase in the turnovers began construction of a new warehouse on 7.5 thousand pallets, with a total area of 10 thousand sq.m., investments into which made more than $5 million", - the director of the department of business process management of Trading House Ayr Ltd Igor Kovtun reported, - "The question of expediency of automation of our new warehouse did not even stand, all of us were sure of need of it and, having studied all proposed solutions, we decided to stop the choice on the systems of the class WMS (Warehouse Management Systems)". Prime vendors of WMS solutions, attendees at the Russian market took part in the tender organized by Trading House of Ayr. The commission in the work paid special attention to studying of technology of work of a warehouse under control of a system and reputation of supplier company.
The first stage of system implementation was completed in the summer of 2003. After that the management of trading house came to need of transfer of all warehouse under management of the Solvo.WMS system, and after all approvals within a month the remained warehouse zones were connected to a system. After test operation in August of last year a system was handed over in industrial use. Now a system works at an overall load. Daily the warehouse processes about 30 thousand lines of orders, and in peak days to 50 thousand.
Personnel management happens by means of radio terminals - mobile computers which equip warehouse workers. On the radio terminal screen the employee receives the individual step-by-step tasks which are automatically created by a system and confirms their accomplishment with scanning of a barcode from labels which mark all storage locations and goods which arrived on a warehouse. In the version with a mixed technology in addition to radio terminals paper sheets tasks (peak sheets) are used. The peak sheet is issued to the employee for assembly of the order and contains a description of goods, its quantities, the location and the destination. Payroll happens in the company on the basis of information on each employee obtained from Solvo.WMS management system.
For system operation it is used two 2nd processor servers: the application server - Intel Xeon of 2.4 GHz, 2 GB of OZU and the DB server - Intel Pentium III of 1.4 GHz, 2 GB of OZU. The wireless network of the IEEE 802.11b standard is built on the equipment of Cisco company and mobile PSC Falcon 335 radio terminals.
In addition to system implementation within the project specialists of "SOLVO" developed the XML-gateway with a corporate system. Existence of the gateway allowed to adjust transfer of all statistical information on a warehouse from a warehouse system in corporate.
