Polyus Gold (IBM WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus (ESB)

The head of IT department of Polyus Gold company Vasily Dolgov shared plans about implementation of ESB (Enterprise Service Bus) – the service bus of the enterprise. Polyus Gold includes ore and loose gold deposits in several regions of Russia, the CIS, Romania. Four gold mining enterprises, 14 prospecting enterprises – only 40 legal entities are a part of the company. As there was no opportunity to provide reliability of communication channels, the company had no centralized system of automation, the database was also distributed on regional points of presence.

The architecture of ESB allows to perform interaction of all applications through a uniform point which, if necessary, provides transactions, data translation, safety of addresses. Such approach should provide big flexibility, simplicity of scaling and transfer. So when replacing of one application connected to the bus there is no need to recustomize the others.

Still the Polyus Gold company did not select the suitable solution, and now is occupied with development of own software. The complexity of the choice consists not in absence in the market of the suitable solution, and the fact that they are very expensive (and business is not ready to pay for integration), are difficult, and examples of implementation can be found, generally in the West.
