SG-17S — SHDSL DSLAM and the switch with the PoDSL and PoE+ function.

The Sigrand company started in June, 2011 serial release of the SG-17S device integrating SHDSL DSLAM and Ethernet the switch.

SG-17S ("S" - Switch) is development of a reference platform of SG-17R ("R" - Router) with hardware completions which give to the user an opportunity to use the device as the switch of the 2nd level. Except fixed functions of switching of L2, SG-17S supports port mirroring and aggregation of ports for performance improvement and fault tolerance of network. The tag-based technology (802.1Q) VLAN will provide an opportunity for segmentation of traffic on groups, increases in security and network performance. Support of classes of services (CoS) – setup of bandwidth and queue of priorities and also traffic observation on the basis of TCP ports is implemented.

It is possible to install up to four expansion units in one SG-17S chassis ("MS" — Module Switch) in different combinations:

  • MS-17H4 – four SHDSL interfaces – up to 15296 kbps on one pair;
  • MS-17H4P2 – four SHDSL interfaces – up to 15296 kbps on one pair with giving of a distant feed of PoDSL (up to 17 W on two interfaces or up to 8.5 W on four interfaces);
  • MS-17E8 – eight Ethernet 10/100 interfaces;
  • MS-17E8P – eight Ethernet 10/100 interfaces with giving of a distant feed of PoE + (up to 30 W of class 4 on four interfaces or up to 15.4 W of class 3 on eight interfaces).

Use of the modules MS-17H4 as a part of SG-17S will allow to organize SHDSL DSLAM which will complement SG-17B modems with a node of the central access with a capacity to 16 ports, or will give an opportunity to integrate multi-user networks on several selected pairs in the Link Aggregation mode. The modules MS-17E8 will allow to organize connection of the equipment with Ethernet interfaces with a capacity to 32 ports. The power supply given via the modules MS-17H4P2 can be used for connection of regenerators of SG-17E or SG-17B-P-M modems. SG-17B-P/T-M modems can not only accept a power supply from the line, but also transform it on PoE technology for connection of client devices with a power up to 10 W. The power supply given via the modules MS-17E8P can be used for connection of IP cameras or other client devices: IP phones, etc. The module supports the IEEE 802.3at standard (PoE+) that allows to connect devices with big consumption (to 30 W), for example rotary IP cameras, the lighting systems, casings with heating.

As Uplink DSLAM/switch 2 Gigabit Ethernet of the interface with the copper and fiber optic terminations are used.

For SG-17S functions of a reference platform SG-17R with a possibility of installation of all types of the modules developed for this router remained. In the chassis it is in addition possible to use the following modules MR-17 (MR-Module Router): for VoIP of telephony (FXO, FXS, TCh), E1, RS-232. In this option it is possible to use settings of the hardware switch for the modules MS-17 * and the MR-17R router * it is independent, or "turn on" the modules MR-17R in the general switch. It allows on the distributed networks for connection to higher network to use different interfaces: Gigabit Ethernet, E1 or SHDSL.

Combinations of different combinations of modules in one device: SHDSL and Ethernet allows to position SG-17S for the market of IP video surveillance as the uniform switching center with the PoE and PoDSL function for connection as the local, located within action Ethernet of a segment and deleted to several kilometers of IP cameras. Application of SG-17S complete with thermocasings of PoE of own development, gives the chance of the organization of a video surveillance system using one information twisted pair cable, without additional laying of wires with a power power supply. In this case connection with a distant feed is provided: IP cameras with consumption of PoE class2, LED illumination with white or IR LEDs up to 10 W. Taking into account the big power of illumination and special construction of the heat sink, additional heating of a thermocasing is not required.
