System of integration of educational resources of ICT vendors into educational programs of universities (SIOR ICT)

Cisco company in July, 2011 together with Multivendor and academic consortium in the field of information and communication technologies (IAC of ICT) suggested to create "Open system of integration of educational resources of ICT vendors in the main and additional educational programs of universities (SIOR ICT)". They came up with this idea at the IX All-Russian conference "Teaching Information Technologies in the Russian Federation" which was organized in the middle of May by Association of the enterprises of computer and information technologies (APKIT) with assistance of the Government of the Saratov region and National research Saratov Chernyshevsky State University.

The Russian and foreign universities have wide experience of embedding of rates of ICT vendors in educational process (it is about academies of the IT companies operating based on the largest higher educational institutions). At the same time there is no uniform theoretical and methodological base for integration of such rates into educational programs of higher education on the basis of the existing regulatory base yet.

Within the last five years of MSTU of N.E. Bauman, Educational and methodical consolidation of universities of Russia on university polytechnic education and IAC of ICT conducted active work with the purpose of generalization of fundamental and applied knowledge of universities and experience of the leading IT companies and its integration in the uniform educational program. The working committee meeting of APKIT by training which took place in July of last year became an important step in the solution of this task. On it representatives of executive directorate of IAC of ICT and specialists of Cisco company suggested to discuss possibilities of more active use of ready educational rates of ICT vendors in the academic environment taking into account the federal state educational standards (FSES). This idea was supported by other participants of the mentioned meeting, and creation of the concept "Open system of integration of educational resources of the ICT companies in the main and additional educational programs of universities (SIOR ICT)" became the first practical step on its implementation. The educational resources of the program of Network academies Cisco and IT specialty of higher education supervised by educational and methodical departments of university polytechnic education were involved in the pilot project.

The concept of SIOR ICT represents methodology which universities, developers and suppliers of information and communication technologies, employers and also public and professional associations, state structures, etc. can use. Considering variety and complexity of tasks of creation of SIOR ICT, implementation of this program should take place step by step. At the first stage it is supposed to develop recommendations and methods of filling of the main training programs of the universities working based on the FSES, the normative and methodical contents according to offers of ICT vendors.

Now the joint pilot project of IAC of ICT and Cisco company within which the "Bases of Information and Communication Technologies and Network Administration" program is created is discussed and approved. It is aimed at providing normative integration of training courses of the program of Network academies Cisco (IT Essentials and CCNA Discovery) in the main educational programs more than ten IT specialties FSES of higher education: "Automation and management", "Information science and ADP equipment", "Information systems and technologies", "Applied information science", etc. The program includes appropriate sections of obligatory educational programs and also the additional information which can be used within own educational standards of educational institutions. Upon termination of training students can pass examinations for receiving the international industry certifications in the field of ICT (CompTIA, EUCIP, CCNA).

The SIOR ICT project was discussed on a round table "Integration of training courses of the IT companies into educational programs of universities based on the FSES and prof standards". The chief executive of IAC of ICT Andrey Filippovich, the coordinator of the program of Network academies Cisco in Russia Alexander Turilin and the technical manager of the program of Network academies Cisco Semyon Ovsyannikov and also the adviser of Department of strategic technologies of Microsoft in Russia concerning education Alexander Gavrilov, the coordinator of educational programs of Kaspersky Lab Anastasia Gorelova, the work manager of 1C with the authorized training centers and educational institutions Svetlana Digo, the national program specialist of Institute for Information Technology in formation of UNESCO professor Alexander Horoshilov, etc. took part in it. The associate director of 1C Pavel Gudkov who is a part of Educational committee of APKIT conducted a round table.
