MTS announced federal start of the interactive educational portal for comprehensive schools

JSC Mobile TeleSystems in June, 2011 within the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, announced federal start with assistance of information and analytical center of the Moscow Department of Education of the special portal for comprehensive schools of the Russian Federation — the complete solution for operational interaction between all participants of the educational process available from the mobile phone, the tablet and any other personal IT device.

The project is implemented within public-private partnership. Today more than 900 schools in 20 regions of the country are connected to the project. Schools of different territorial subjects of the federation continue to be connected to the project actively.

Use of a broad spectrum of socially important telecommunication services allowed MTS to create uniform educational information environment and to offer pupils, parents and teachers the convenient tool for ensuring interactive communications. We see a keen interest from all participants of educational process to our developments and we hope that replication of this project on regions will promote universal effective implementation of innovations in educational process" — the president of Group of MTS Dubovskov Andrey noted.

About the educational portal

The educational portal developed within cooperation of MTS and information and analytical center of the Moscow Department of Education is designed to implement integration of numerous interactive opportunities into educational process, to provide operational informing parents on school life of the child, to provide communications between teachers and parents and also to increase the level of information security of schools.

For increase in efficiency of interaction between participants of educational process, the portal is available from any mobile devices of users: mobile phones, tablets and any other personal IT devices, and the functionality of mobile version does not differ from the full web interface. In the long term the solution will be supplemented with the separate application for mobile devices.

In test operation (until the end of 2011) services and content within the project are free both for school, and for parents. Since 2012 a number of bonus additional services will be rated.

Possibilities of the Educational portal:

• - An electronic portfolio – maintaining the class book with data on statistics of visit of classes in objects and progress of each pupil and the personal diary of the pupil with relevant updated class timetable (with the working schedule of sections, circles and open classrooms); online information on the child's estimates on objects and information on tasks for the house and with comments of the teacher on them;
• - Possibility of interactive communication of teachers with parents;
• - The system of the configured SMS notifications for parents and newsletters on behalf of school;
• - The largest base of the educational and developing content presented in the form of e-books, audio and video of files - electronic textbooks, methodical and manuals, a fiction set within the school program, popular periodicals; the entertaining and special developing content for children, free from "adult" subjects: games, videos, music;
• - Geoservices for determination by parents of location of the child, and determination by the school student of location of friends;
• - Access control in educational institution allows parents online to monitor attendance and attendance time of the pupil at school;
• - The electronic order of a power supply allows school students to order far off a lunch in the dining room, using the cell phone or the tablet, and to parents to control the budget on a power supply.

Further MTS plans expansion of functionality of basic services and also the organization of release of budget tablets for pupils and e-books with already installed programs and necessary educational content.
