Cisco and Committee on communication and information technologies of the Republic Northern Ossetia-Alania enacted in June, 2011 the comprehensive program of upgrade of a system of preparation of specialists ICT "the North Caucasus 2.0". This initiative calculated on three years Northern Ossetia-Alania and the North Caucasian Mining and Metallurgical Institute (NCMMI) supported the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic, and technology support to the project was given by INLINE Telecom Solutions company. The program will cover the systems of an average and higher education and also courses of retraining of the unemployed and citizens who are in the constrained economic circumstances or under the threat of dismissal.
The Committee on communication and information technologies of the Republic Northern Ossetia-Alania became the initiator of a pilot project. In case of success this experience can be extended to other subjects of the North Caucasian Federal District. "The North Caucasus 2.0 program will promote the solution of a number of the tasks facing the government of the region, one of which – the organization of uniform information infrastructure of the republic, – the Chairman of the Committee of the Republic Northern Ossetia-Alania on communication noted and to information technologies Vasilyevich Dzansolov Is banished. – This initiative will create a favorable environment for emergence of startups, development of small and medium business in the hi-tech sphere, will allow to saturate republican economy with highly qualified specialists in the field of information and communication technologies".
Implementation of the comprehensive program "2.0" will take place the North Caucasus in the following directions:
- Increase in competence of the ICT area of educators. Within the "Network Academy Cisco on Service to Society" project it is going to improve skills of 50 school teachers of information science according to requirements of the industrial certificate of CCENT1. 20 more teachers will be trained according to the Bases of Information Technologies program.
- Upgrade of teaching ICT at 9-11 classes of schools. For the purpose of implementation of this initiative it will be offered to include in the program of the general school education an elective rate "Bases of information technologies: equipment rooms and software tools PCs" (IT Essentials) from a portfolio of the program of Network academies Cisco. It is expected 72 hours and assumes obtaining basic skills on administration of the personal computer, including assembly dismantling, installation of the operating system, fault recovery in its work, a configuration of wireless access point (Wi-Fi) of house type. In learning process multimedia materials, a management system for educational process on the basis of web, program simulators, laboratory works will be used. Listeners will be able to check the level of the gained knowledge at the annual All-Russian Olympic Games on network technologies among school students. This rate is successfully approved at schools of Moscow, the Republic of Mari El and also in Belarus and Kazakhstan and at the moment is implemented into Karelia, Yakutia and the Yaroslavl region.
- Upgrade of teaching ICT within higher education. Within this direction training programs on information technologies and telecommunications of SKGMI will include CCNA Discovery, CCNA Security2 and CCNP3 rates (are taught in Network academies Cisco), at the same time separate modules will be used when training students of other technical specialties.
- Retraining of jobless and needy groups of citizens and also the advancing training of the persons which are under the threat of dismissal. For the purpose of implementation of this initiative new lot on retraining within programs of the Ministry of Labour and social development of the Republic Northern Ossetia-Alania will be created. The Moscow Department of Labour and Employment already successfully gives classes in such rates.
According to the coordinator of the program of Network academies Cisco in Russia Alexander Turilin, for 3 years within the program of upgrade of a system of preparation of specialists ICT "the North Caucasus 2.0" in the Republic Northern Ossetia-Alania over 1.000 school students and 300 students of universities will be trained, about 100 school teachers will improve skills, more than 200 people will complete retraining courses.
