In Moscow successful testing of the hardware and software system Kraftway based on Microsoft RemoteFX technology for remote start of a CAD in virtual environment took place.
It became the final stage of a pilot project which was started by the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI) together with Microsoft at the end of the 2010th when the RemoteFX technology still was in a beta testing stage. Teachers and engineers of MAI carried out an inspection of the key software products applied in the aerospace industry and in educational process of MAI. According to the results of successful pilot operation and testing the decision on replacement of the expensive workstations used today in training of students on budget thin clients was made.
The hardware complex of the solution is based on production model of the dual-processor Kraftway Science KT24 server providing visualization 3D - diagrams on the protected thin clients of Kraftway Credo VV18 who represent the compact diskless workstation in the metal body fixed on the back panel of any monitor. This client is connected on network directly to the server and serves for information input and display of a desktop. The device is constructed based on the KWN10 motherboard of development Kraftway with the built-in module of security of TSM (Trusted Security Module) from Aladdin R.D. company which is closely integrated from a BIOS system and is intended for accomplishment of functions of the hardware-software module of a trusted boot. As the graphic platform of the server the professional video card ATI FirePro V9800 VideoRAM 4GB was selected. It is possible to install up to four similar graphic subsystems in the server.
The program basis of the solution is formed by the Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 operating system with the included innovative technology of RemoteFX which allows to organize full-fledged workstations in virtual environment. Among main advantages of a system: speed of a response, an opportunity for work with difficult complex models, visualization of results, simplicity and availability of the interface. Ample opportunities of the solution allow to replace several expensive graphic stations on one thin client. It is supposed that start of a complex will give the chance considerably to expand quantity of jobs in MAI and it is essential to prolong life of the hardware.
According to participants of testing, the complex can be applied in technical colleges to training in modern information technologies and in the industry to creation of the knowledge-intensive modern products.
