"RM of Vent" performs migration of infrastructure of calculations

The Digital Design company completed the project of migration of a server framework and workstations in RM of Vent company.

Digital Design and "RM of Vent" companies summed up the results of four years' cooperation in January, 2012. During this time specialists of IT integrator implemented a number of projects on upgrade of IT infrastructure for the supplier of vent systems. Besides, since 2007 Digital Design performs continued technical support of the first level of RM of Vent company.

Dmitry Tatarinov, the director of the department of infrastructure solutions, Digital Design, tells: "Digital Design supports the software both on servers, and at workstations. Among the services and applications which are "under guardianship" Digital Design - Microsoft Exchange Server Active Directory basic network services, also we help with service of the specific software. Within works on technical support our specialists resolve any issues arising at employees concerning work of the software from setup of labels before installation of new software or setup of peripheral equipment. Now we process about 20 addresses a month".

In addition, the IT integrator performed a number of modernization projects. In particular, in 2010 migration of infrastructure "RM-Vent" on server solution was carried out that allowed to optimize distribution between physical servers of server services, necessary for work. Besides, corporate antivirus protection based on Kaspersky Enterprise Space Security was set. After that the staff of Digital Design began process of migration on the Windows 7 operating system. In the current year specialists optimized structure of information storage, created a backup system and data recovery. Also a mail system by installation and setup a solution antispam on the basis of GFI MailEssentials was modified.

Stanislav Studzinsky, the deputy CEO, RM Vent LLC, comments: "We work with Digital Design long ago and are happy with results of cooperation. In "RM of Vent" there is no IT service, and Digital Design performs permanent service of our IT infrastructure. We try to keep up to date and build the business in the European key, and most the western companies already passed to similar schemes of work. Outsourcing is profitable to us for several reasons. First, we are engaged in our primary professional activity, without being distracted at the same time by non-core tasks. Secondly, thus the risks connected with the sudden termination of functioning of information systems and idle standing of business in this case are minimized. Thirdly, we do not spend additional resources for keeping of staff of IT employees. At our disposal there are competent and experienced professionals who are ready to solve any arising incident qualitatively and quickly. Specialists deeply investigate our problems therefore the first notice what improvements need to be introduced in IT infrastructure. It is also necessary to note that at the expense of such projects on optimization the number of incidents considerably decreased".

Explanation

Stanislav Studzinsky, deputy CEO, RM Vent LLC: "The server hardware of our company was purchased for a long time, risks of its failure became high. Besides, it ceased to meet the requirements of the modern systems fully. Therefore we decided to update the equipment. Also we increased efficiency of antivirus protection. The result became we will feel at once: terms of outage of technology at failures and time for the solution of different incidents by employees of technical support decreased".

Solution

The project is implemented in two stages. On the first the staff of Digital Design transferred to technologies of Microsoft basic network services, a mail system, a file server, print servers and databases. Besides, specialists of IT integrator implemented the system of corporate antivirus protection based on Kaspersky Enterprise Space Security and a control system of access to data storage devices.

Within the second stage, by means of Microsoft Deployment Toolkit 2010, Windows Deployment Services and User State Migration Tool, deployment and transfer of user data in the course of migration are automated. After that specialists of Digital Design carried out updating of operating systems at 35 workstations.

According to Dmitry Romanov, the director of the department of the infrastructure solutions Digital Design, "correctly constructed IT infrastructure is important for the companies of any sizes. Maintenance and development of profile applications is priority - unlike the providing infrastructure subsystems. The maintenance of own IT service not always is profitable. In such cases the checked by time and attractive solution at cost based on technologies of Microsoft successfully implements the principle of need and sufficiency for a server framework, and standardization of the PC considerably reduces a downtime of employees because of problems with computers".
