Dune HD Duo review: Movie Man's Universal Choice

2010

At the beginning of 2010, HDI has two models of HD media players:

Dune HD Base 3.0, и Dune BD Prime 3.0. Both models are based on the latest Sigma Designs EM8642 chipset.

The Dune BD Prime 3.0 model, due to the presence of a Blu-ray drive in it, is not only an HD media player, but also a real Blu-ray player that reads proprietary licensed Blu-Ray and DVD discs, all at a reasonable price of 570 USD.

Also very popular is the Dune HD Base 3.0 (450 USD), which is a complete analogue of the Dune BD Prime 3.0 model, only without a Blu-Ray/DVD drive installed, but with the ability to install an internal SATA HDD 3.5 ″. You can read an overview of this model on our website here. It is also worth noting that in 2010 at the Technosila 2010 exhibition in Moscow, the Dune HD Base 3.0 player was recognized as the best media player.

2007

In December 2007, the company released the Dune HD Ultra model, which was assembled on a EM8634 chip, and also had a built-in DVD drive. However, due to the too high cost (almost 2 times more expensive than the Dune HD One), the Dune HD Ultra model was not widely used, although it certainly provided a certain level of sales, especially since at that time much cheaper HD media players without a DVD drive based on the EM8635 chip were not yet available.

2006: First Dune HD One media player

The first HD media player released by HDI was the Dune HD One in December 2006, which was assembled on a EM8620L chip and had a built-in DVD drive. The Dune HD One player was the first HD media player model to become widely known in the CIS countries. In fact, between 2006 and 2007, it was the only HD media player model that could be officially bought in Russia and Ukraine.
