Rostelecom starts operation of a specialized complex in Sochi

The Nvision company constructed the center of information technologies by request of Rostelecom. On September 20, 2012, in the run-up to the XI International investment forum in Sochi, opening of a specialized complex where will be concentrated management of a single network of Games, data processing and also integration and debugging of solutions and technologies for each sport, etc. took place.

"It is the largest object of IT infrastructure of future Olympic Games – its area is more than 2000 sq.m. The premises are equipped with all necessary engineering systems for ensuring smooth operation of the telecommunication and server hardware. The center differs in high reliability and fault tolerance, completely conforms to international standards and requirements of the International Olympic Committee", – Alexander Shipulin, the vice president – the director of MRF "South" of JSC Rostelecom noted.

Solution

"It is possible to tell that the first Olympic record in these games was set up by our company. Usually complexes of such scale build about 2.5 years. We made it in phenomenally short term – almost in 10 months. All construction and commissioning was conducted round the clock, without days off and holidays. Every day about 100 people at the same time worked at an object. At the same time we showed not only the speed, but also quality – the engineering complex successfully passed tests", – Alexey Tarasenko, the CEO of NVision Group emphasized.

"The constructed center of information technologies will become "heart" of future Olympic Games, and we took care of that it fought trouble-free. All intellectual part of the project is performed by own forces of NVision. And our command in branches of the Southern Federal District is more than 150 highly professional specialists. The following specialized services were a part of the center of information technologies:

• command center technologies of Games (Technology Operation Center, TOC);

• main data processing center (Primary Data Center, PDC);

• control center (Network Operational Center, NOC);

• technical support service (Technology Service desk, Game Call Center);

• center of carrying out training (Technology Training Center, TTC);

• test laboratory for integration and testing of basic information systems (Integration Test Lab, ITL);

• main center of telecommunications.

The data processing center located in two premises with a total area of 400 sq.m includes 92 racks 45U for placement of the IT and telecom equipment. Office spaces with a total area of 1600 sq.m (TOC, ITL, NOC, TTC, etc.) are intended for the organization of 400 jobs.
