Personnel management system based on HCM SAP ERP at the OMK enterprises

The IBS company completed the project on development and replication of a personnel management system in the United Metallurgical Company (UMC). A system based on SAP ERP of HCM was implemented in two production divisions of the company - the Foundry and rolling complex and Vyksa Steel Works (both are located in the Vyksa district of the Nizhny Novgorod Region) and also at the Moscow office OMK. On the basis of a system key control functions by personnel and personnel production more than for 16,000 employees were automated.

OMK - one of the largest industrial companies of Russia. 4 large enterprises of the metallurgical industry are its part. The project for development of the automated HR system was initiated by company management for unification of processes, algorithms of calculation and reference books on personnel, creation of integrated solution, uniform for the OMK different enterprises, for enterprise management based on SAP. The SAP solution ERP HCM developed and implemented in the Foundry and rolling complex by specialists of consulting division of SAP CIS was taken as a basis of a new system.

According to the results of tender the IBS company was selected by the contractor of the project of replication of a system. Completion and development of a system for unification of personnel management processes on its base in all involved divisions became the main tasks of her specialists.

All works were performed in 9 months, and the project was complete in 2010. During its implementation modules of organizational management, employee administration, payroll and a time recording were implemented. For convenience of employees and managers the portal services of self-service (a design of holidays, compensatory leaves, etc.) and also phonebooks and search of employees were deployed.

As a result of SAP implementation of HCM we in practice achieved all purposes which were set before themselves at the beginning of the project".

Use of a new personnel management system in divisions of OMK allowed to unify reference books, algorithms of calculation of charges, to reduce terms of technical payroll. Besides, the single database mostly of the staff of the company was created that lays the foundation for automation of the following functionality on personnel management: managements of selection, employee development, a talent pool, costs planning on personnel. At the expense of the built-in developed reporting system the company management receives more detailed and authentic information on personnel management now.
