AMR Research, Inc. - the American research company which was sold to Gartner Research for $64 million in 2009. The company was focused on a research of the market of supply chains and the accompanying technologies, including ERP- systems, schedule systems of supply chains, "green" technologies", business analysts PLM CRM, HCM and others.
2009: Gartren buys AMR Research for $64 million
On December 2, 2009 Gartner announced conclusion of an agreement on acquisition of the competitor – AMR Research company for $64 million.
According to Gene Hall (Gene Hall), CEO Gartner, AMR Research strategically perfectly is suitable for Gartner. The absorbed company is the leader in the field of researches of supply chain management that is the main problem for many organizations. The company expects that acquisition will allow Gartner to enter this market and will lead to mutually beneficial cooperation by sale of products of AMR Research to clients of Gartner and the products Gartner to clients of AMR Research.
The AMR Research command totaled at this time 40 analysts whom Gartner was going to involve in the researches and also 45 people of a managerial personnel and sales managers that, predictably, will allow Gartner to raise opportunities for development of the company.
All researches, developments, customer services and contracts on sales will remain in AMR Research, Gartner will not change the corporate policy of the purchased company, moreover, is going to provide AMR Research access to customer bases of Gartner. Revenues of AMR Research in 2009 are expected at the level of 40 million dollars.
For financing of the transaction of Gartner she intends to use cash and borrowed funds. According to the conditions reached between the parties, the transaction should be closed by the end of December, 2009.
Gartner does not expect that acquisition of AMR Research will have an impact on financial results of 2009, the positive financial effect from acquisition is supposed in 2010-2011.
