What secrets of successful SAP implementation of ERP in the oil and gas industry what key moments can be selected in the analysis of the successful project? CNews: What premises preceded the decision on implementation in Sibneftegaz company of a corporate information system of management?
Vyacheslav Stepanov: Understanding about need of the choice of a corporate information system of management came in 2007 when Sibneftegaz brought the Coastal gas-condensate field into commercial operation.
There was a need to standardize business processes of the enterprise, to cover all segments of financial and economic activity, to provide its daily analysis and control.
CNews: Why a system based on a SAP software was selected? How did the choice of the contractor happen?
Vyacheslav Stepanov: Relying on positive experience of the gas enterprises which are successfully using the complex information management system, a choice was made for benefit of the SAP ERP system.
In September, 2008 competitive selection on rendering maintenance services, to administration and user support of a corporate information system of management based on the software of SAP was made.
In competitive selection 7 companies, participated in the majority, the corporate systems of management having experience of creation based on SAP solutions including in the oil and gas industry. Technical capabilities of applicants, their commercial offers, guarantees and responsibility on accomplishment of technical obligations were estimated. According to the results of selection the "Siemens of Atos" company which provided competitive price and confirmed requirements imposed Sibneftegaz won: work experience in implementation of large-scale integration projects, compliance of the offered works to our requirements, the qualitative structure and high qualification of personnel.
Edgars Paunch: I wanted to notice that our company is a prime vendor of IT services for Siemens AG company which, in turn, acts as the largest customer and the consumer of the SAP ERP systems around the world. I.e. the SAP ERP system which we implemented in Sibneftegaz company is a system which we directly use also in the work. Thus, we propose to our clients solutions as which we are firmly sure.
Project
The Russian gas company "Sibneftegaz" implemented the solution based on SAP ERP and brought it into commercial operation since January 1, 2010. The Siemens of Atos LLC company which won the tender - the large supplier of complete solutions and services in the field of information and telecommunication technologies became the contractor at implementation.
Processes of financial and budget management, accounting and tax accounting, controlling and project planning, logistics, maintenance and repair of the equipment, document flow, personnel management, etc. were automated.
CNews: What stages were included by the project?
Yana Nikiforova: The project included three main units: development of methodology, implementation of modules of a corporate information system based on SAP and a licensed software and three stages: a development stage and project planning, the project implementation stage broken into seven steps and a stage of project completion.
The following tasks were set for integrator: first, development of a complete packet of methodological documentation on accounting and enterprise management, taking into account specifics of the company and features of implementation in KISU. Secondly, creation of the operating corporate information system of management based on the software of SAP.
In the third – creation of a system of the normative reference information providing a corporate information system of management of the necessary detail level of records of reference books.
Andrey Kravchenko: Creation of the complex information management system by the enterprise based on SAP ERP, as a rule, studies in the classical, recommended by vendor methodology - Accelerate SAP. This project did not become an exception.
Feature of the project it is possible to call carrying out prior to the beginning of the main project works of profound preproject inspection that allowed to formulate more precisely methodology, the amount of works and the planned result.
Besides, in the project progress we managed to pass a stage of trial operation, normal for complex projects of this sort, and at once to pass to a stage of commercial operation with the subsequent support of a system. Make it it was difficult as functional project scope was big. It demanded considerable efforts as from our consultants, and the corresponding counter steps and efforts from specialists Sibneftegaz.
CNews: At what stage the project is today? What functional volume was implemented?
Vyacheslav Stepanov: The PUSSYCAT SAP is in commercial operation at our enterprise more than one and a half years. Within the executed project the following business processes are completely automated: requirements planning on the current and investment activities, logistics and implementation, maintaining managerial, accounting and tax accounting, accounting for the purposes of IFRS, document flow. In a system execution of budgets forms and controlled, personnel management, including personnel and organizational management and also payroll calculation is exercised.
Andrey Kravchenko: Now in addition to, the created KISU based on SAP ERP the SAP BI system also actively develops for what the corresponding infrastructure of storage and data processing is created.
CNews: Tell how the technical support of the solution is implemented?
Mikhail Lyadov: As for technical support, today it is organized on the 3rd to the-level scheme. A considerable part of the current requests of users for technical support (about 50%) is allowed directly in customer company, forces of rather small project team.
Besides, support of the 2nd and 3rd level qualitatively and timely appears our qualified specialists. As a part of "Siemens of Atos" separate infrastructure divisions are selected for this purpose. on support of business of our customers. Besides, in our Voronezh outsourcing center the project team which forces perform necessary completion of KISU of JSC Sibneftegaz is created.
Edgars Paunch: Implementation and support of solutions based on SAP ERP was and remains our priority.
At the same time we place a particular emphasis also on services in consulting, creation and support of IT infrastructure. CNews: What you see further development of a system and cooperation with "Siemens of Atos"?
Vyacheslav Stepanov: For us cooperation not only in implementation of one separate project, and a possibility of long-term collaboration in the whole range of the tasks facing our company is almost important. For example, the questions connected with solution integration based on SAP ERP with the system of industrial automation Siemens SIMATIC which is operated at the enterprise are considered.
Yana Nikiforova: In my opinion, further development of analytical systems capabilities of BI based on SAP which is operated together with KISU is perspective.
Edgars Paunch: If to speak about strategic perspectives of cooperation, then it is possible to analyze in addition a possibility of creation of the center of SAP competences of Sibneftegaz company as the next important step of development and increasing knowledge in the KISU area directly in customer company.
At the same time expansion and deepening of functionality of an existing solution, certainly, is for us the major current task.
CNews: What positive effects from system implementation?
Vyacheslav Stepanov: The positive effect from SAP implementation of ERP in Sibneftegaz is a creation of a transparent system of collecting and information analysis about a company performance, increase in effective management of material flows, fixed assets and property, uses of target financing and own profit. At the moment the corporate information system of management based on the software of SAP ERP covers all segments of business activities of the company.
Mikhail Lyadov: Achievement of positive effects and results in the project became possible thanks to close and productive interaction practically with all structural divisions of JSC Sibneftegaz, including company management. Accomplishment of the majority of assigned tasks was reached thanks to their permanent coaching and interest in the project.
Edgars Paunch: Would like to emphasize still the fact that this complex project with broad functionality managed to be implemented quickly enough. Certainly, it demanded considerable efforts from the staff of "Siemens of Atos". Implementation of this project, in particular, allowed the company - to the customer to exercise transparent and operating control of expenses by structural divisions and types of activity that increased effective management of material flows and fixed assets.
