J-Dual

Product
Developers: Morpho Safran (before Sagem Sécurité)
Date of the premiere of the system: August, 2011
Technology: Cybersecurity - Biometric identification

The biometric reader J-Dual of Morpho Safran company (before Sagem Sécurité) executes identification on fingerprints. Innovation can exercise biometric control in a standalone mode or as a part of network ACS of different producers, and allow to service up to 500 users, and upon purchase of the additional license — up to 3,000 employees. For increase in security of a control system of access the J-Dual model has the reader of RFID cards Mifare. Besides, both models support the protocols Wiegand, Clock&Data, RS-485 and TCP/IP, steadily function at temperatures from-10 to +40 °C and work from a source with rated voltage of 12 V or on PoE technology.

New series J of a line of the readers MorphoAccess is provided by the J-Bio model performing identification of personnel only on fingerprints and the J-Dual model executing biometric control together with reading of RFID access cards. Both readers have the small sizes and an attractive design, and their body differs in high quality of execution. Basic Element of these biometric readers is the optical scanner which is the CMOS array of 14х22 mm in size with the resolution of 500 dots per inch. And the contactless reader which is built in J-Dual allows to organize additional access control according to RFID cards of the MIFARE and DESFire standard.

The increased utilization properties of the readers J-Bio/Dual are provided by the hermetic and strong plastic package with IP65. It reliably protects electronics of the biometrics device from penetration in moisture and dust and allows the reader reliably and to steadily execute biometric control of personnel at temperatures from -10 ° to +50 °C and air humidity from 0 to 80%. Besides, new readers have the hidden fixture, the separation sensor from a mounting surface and the opening sensor, and for a power supply use a source of 9-16 V or a PoE-injector.

J-Dual works under control of a specialized software of MEMS which is established at the workstation connected to the biometric ACS. Software of MEMS allows to execute purpose of temporary zones and synchronization of databases of readers with the database of the server, to integrate readers in groups and to manage them and also to create reports. The MEMS software package supports the Microsoft Access and SQL Server platforms, and when using SQL Server work in the client-server mode is possible that it allows to organize biometric access control with centralized operation by databases. Besides, it is possible to connect the biometric MorphoSmart scanner and the list device of smart cards to the workstation.

For integration in biometric and RFID control systems of access for different producers and also compatibility with the ACS separate devices, the readers Morpho Safran have the interfaces Wiegand, RS-485 and Clock&Data. J-Bio and J-Dual can work both in a standalone mode, and as a part of the network ACS when remote control these readers, change of their settings, software updating and work with databases of templates can be carried out on TCP/IP. If the reader conducts biometric control in a standalone mode, control of the access control system actuator (the electromechanical lock, a tourniquet, etc.) it is performed through its relay exit.

The reader J-Dual can provide biometric control of personnel in the verification mode. In this case at first there is data reading about the MIFARE/DESFire access cards and their comparison with databases of a system, and then — identification of the card holder on a fingerprint. Such approach excludes use of someone else's map admission.

Level of reliability of identification/verification is configured individually, proceeding from specifics of an object and tasks which the biometric control system of access should execute, and characterized by two mutually return parameters: FRR (False Reject Rate, probability of false failure) and FAR (False Acceptance Rate, probability of false admission). The FAR value is established in relative units and can change from 1 to 10 that provides biometric control with the probability of false admission from 1 to 10-9. To avoid an error at identification in systems with a large number of users it is recommended to configure readers on high FAR value. If it is necessary to provide the high speed of verification or identification, then set mean or FAR low value.
