The Meditsina clinic consolidates medical information using IBM XIV Storage System

In a sentyarba of 2011 of IBM and OAO Medicine announced a successful completion of the project on creation of a failsafe subsystem of storage of the IT infrastructure of the medical center of new generation providing qualitatively new level of the patsiyento-focused medicine. A system provides the high level of safety of storage of personal data of patients, ability to integrate with the medical equipment and a full support of the international standard of medical information of DICOM.

Agreement signature about cooperation of JSC Meditsina with IBM, development and deployment of the innovation hardware and software system answering to new problems of development of clinic became a new stage in continuous quality improvement of service maintenance of patients of clinic. Within the first stage of creation of the consolidated IT infrastructure the clinic solved a problem of transfer of all data on patients on Wednesday of storage based on the IBM XIV platform.

Two IBM XIV disk arrays in configuration 43TB of available space and 72GB a cache memory became a basis of infrastructure of storage of Meditsina clinic. On DWH the data necessary for work of clinic are stored: electronic maps of patients, results of medical researches and other information. For reliability of data storage replication between disk arrays and backup using IBM TS3310 library and the software of IBM Tivoli Storage Manager is organized. The IBM XIV system allowed clinic to receive the reliable tool for storage of constantly growing data volume. Advantages of IBM XIV are the low cost of ownership and easy comprehensive scaling which provide to this system broad application in such specific industry as health care. A system has the intuitive control interface allowing to manage the virtualized environment without making additional investments into personnel training. Reservation of data which is performed using instruments of replication provides reliable storage of medical information.
