RETN, the Russian supplier of telecommunication services and the client of Infinera since 2008, integrated into the all-European fiber optic network the linear system of the second generation from Infinera (ILS, Infinera Line System). The RETN company specializes in provision of services of communication within Russia and also between large international points of exchange of traffic. Since 2002 RETN considerably extended, it concerned both production capacities, and quantity of points of presence (POP). Today RETN network – one of the largest in Russia, with a covering from Moscow to London, to the North and the South. Its network directly connects among themselves more than 800 providers.
In 2008 RETN integrated the equipment Infinera, having made a choice for benefit of simplicity of its use and management. It allowed RETN to increase the general network transmission capacity and to provide to clients full range of services, including data processing (IP), packet switching in multiprotocol networks based on tags (MPLS), synchronization of digital hierarchy (SDH) and the managed services on the spectral channel. Since this moment the RETN network is equipped with the next generation of linear system (ILS2) from Infinera to which indisputable advantages it is possible to refer high sending range, a possibility of optical transit and potential on scalability within several terabits. Along with photon integrated modules from Infinera, the linear system of the second generation (ILS2) offers highly effective hybrid fiber erbium Raman amplifiers which will allow RETN to scale in the future network to 8.0tb/with on a cable and to use channels 40G and 100G without the need for additional updating of optical fiber and amplifiers. Extent of a linear system of the second generation (ILS2) from Infinera integrated into RETN network - more than 17 thousand kilometers.
ILS2 system from Infinera gives an opportunity to the organization to 160 optical links in the S-range with separation longwise of a wave (DWDM), increases transfer distance more than by 2.500 km and gives increase in capacity up to 8 TB/with, providing growth and flexible deployment of services from 1GbE (1 Gigabit of Ethernet) to 100GbE (100 Gigabits of Ethernet).
