The Home Credit bank optimized process of data backup

The Home Credit bank optimized one of the major business processes – process of data backup. It gave the chance to accelerate request processing of clients of bank and to provide reliable storage of all information. The project in 4.5 months was implemented by CROC company.

One of competitive advantages of banks on consumer credit market is the speed of issuance of credits for this reason technology upgrade and innovations play an important role in development of bank. Within the strategy of optimization of IT systems the Home Credit Bank replaced tape libraries of the main data processing center of the Bank in Obninsk ensuring functioning of its divisions from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok.

"Only for the last three years our customer base increased more than by 3 million people. Upgrade allowed us to raise the rate of processing of user queries and to increase reliability of data storage according to requirements of the legislation and internal standards", – Novitsky Sergey, the Director of the department of maintenance of IT of Home Credit Bank says.

"Within two months we booked audit of information systems of Bank, and following the results proposed the solution which allowed to reduce costs for disk space and to release the large volume of resources of IT systems on transaction processing of user queries to 90%. At the same time subject knowledge of products of different producers to us helped not to lose functionality of the operated NR system thanks to which backup in bank is performed and to integrate it with a new solution on the EMC platform", - Dmitry Doshchany the director of the Center of solutions of CROC based on EMC technologies noted.

"The disk library EMC Data Domain DD860 has capacity up to 9.8 terabyte per hour. Thanks to deduplication function a system detects and excludes the repeating data that significantly saves disk space. The maximum formatted capacity of library 142 terabytes, and thanks to deduplication function the logical capacity of DD860 can reach 7.1 petabyte of data", - Vasily Ivanov, the technical adviser of EMC tells.

Today the deduplication coefficient which allows to estimate how much less data borrow thanks to DataDomain makes – 10.8 (90.7%). Further implementation of the similar solution in reserve DPC in Moscow is planned that will provide reliable and disaster-proof storage of backup copies of data due to global deduplication of EMCDataDomain (between cities/websites/platforms).
