BusVideo is the integrated video surveillance system in public transport developed by Byte Erg company. Today SUE Mosgortrans of production of LiAZ LLC is successfully applied in buses.

As everything began

For 2010 5600 buses of Moscow transported about 1 billion passengers. Thus, one bus in a year transported nearly 180 thousand human. It is a heavy load on the equipment and service staff. Huge responsibility - life and health of all these people are in hands of one person - the driver. The security issue rises very sharply. Therefore representatives of Mosgortrans addressed to Byte Erg LLC for equipment of new buses video surveillance systems.

Specialists of Byte Erg visited the 14th bus fleet of Moscow where they communicated to drivers, engineers of Quality Department. Some treated watchfully emergence of surveillance cameras in their vehicles. But all agreed that these systems will make work quieter and more effective, and transportation of passengers it is safer.

During the research of the offered object and experience of foreign countries - in which mobile systems of video surveillance have wider circulation, than in Russia - the solution under the name BusVideo was developed, proposed and embodied.

In a system four cameras are used. One camera is located over an entrance door and observes not only the entering passengers, but also the driver.

The second - is set on a front-porch and looks in salon. Thanks to the color image of high resolution and wide angle of the overview it controls almost all space and allows to receive the picture of high quality.

The third surveillance camera is placed in a cabin behind a windshield and oriented in the direction of travel for record of everything that happens on the road.

The fourth - is mounted on the back panel of the bus to fix the events in "dead" zones.

Thus, using four surveillance cameras the whole complex of problems is solved:

• Fight against terrorism: detection of suspicious people, ownerless objects;
• Suppression of acts of vandalism;
• Timely response to aggressive actions of passengers;
• Identification of free riders;
• Post-security: viewing archives for identification of participants of such offenses, as theft, fights, robberies;
• Accounting of all entering passengers for the subsequent analysis of load of runs, maintaining exact statistics;
• Observation of the driver: its physical and emotional status, accomplishment of service duties;
• Tracking the road and permission of matters of argument with GAI in case of road accident or violation of traffic regulations, determination of degree of fault of the driver;
• Control of space around the bus - cameras considerably expand the overview and help to notice timely pedestrians and participants of traffic, facilitate the parking.

As everything is arranged

The signal from surveillance cameras is transmitted to the video recorder. Data remain on the SD card, depth of archive - seven days. There is a cyclic mode: in process of filling the oldest records automatically are removed.

Images are output to 8 the liquid crystal monitor in a cabin of the driver who sees everything that happens on the under control territory, and can quickly react. For example, to stop the bus either to call the police, or to contact the manager.

In a system the potential for development is put: it is possible to connect the GPS/GLONASS module for data acquisition about location of the vehicle and a route, there are ports for sound recording, data transmission channels on a wireless network are provided.

BusVideo is used MVK-0933tsn - anti-vandal cut-in surveillance cameras of the color image. Hermetic, shock-resistant, hardly removable. Perfectly work at a temperature from minus 50 to plus 50 Celsius degrees. Have the wide angle of the overview and high resolution allowing "take" even the most fine details. Thanks to design features are not evident: do not spoil design of the bus and do not irritate passengers.

BestDVR 405 Mobile-SD - the automobile digital video recorder - supports 4 surveillance cameras at the same time. In case of need it is possible to connect up to 4 microphones for sound recording. The compression of a signal is H.264. The audio-video remains in a format * AVI - on the SD card, an external hard drive (2.5") or a flash drive.

Connectors for connection of speed sensors and inclusion of ignition, three user sensors, the GPS module are provided. The video recorder can fix the bus speed, a route, sharp braking and accelerations, opening of doors.

Small dimensions and possibility of a power supply from a board network with tension from 8 to 32 V facilitate the BestDVR 405 Mobile-SD installation on all means of transport - petrol or diesel.

The video recorder is installed in a special compartment in a cabin. The device is steady against blows, vibrations and mechanical damages. Perfectly works at a temperature from minus 30 to plus 60 degrees.

Video is displayed on liquid crystal 8 the monitor. Both from one camera, and from all four for choice. It is possible to select the necessary mode manually or to configure in advance. For example, at turning on of the reverse gear the image from the surveillance camera of a rearview is output to the full screen automatically. If the additional hardware is connected, on the display data on location and a route, speed, a system status, information from sensors are also shown.

The offered video surveillance system is an excellent example of how using rather small costs to improve control over the vehicle, the driver and passengers, to minimize possible risks - thereby considerably to raise the security level.
