The National University of Science and Technology " MISIS " upgraded to the new version of Directum

Our first large project on EDMS was for National University of Science and Technology of MISIS which participated in the national Education project. Within the project serious money for upgrade to a number of universities was selected, and NITU MISIS was one of them. Our company won the tender for the complex and integration project. In its framework we automated management of educational process and the contingent of pupils, management of scientific and contract activities (based on own solution for universities Axiom), including on implementation of EDMS with a task to minimize the movement of documents in paper form the Project lasted about three years. For implementation of EDMS we analyzed the market and selected ready the solution designer — the DIRECTUM platform. Then we adapted it for business processes of university. After project completion and assessment of results it became clear that, first, we purchased serious examination on work in university, and, secondly, that we created a team of experienced specialists. They well understand specifics of business processes of university, its activity, is more whole than it and also people who work there. What is an important component of success.

Directum 4.9

The National University of Science and Technology " MISIS ", efforts of department of e-document flow of Namip Group - the certified partner of Directum - upgraded in the spring of 2013 to the new version of electronic document management of Directum 4.9.

The National University of Science and Technology works with Directum electronic document management system more than 7 years. The project on workflow automation at the university started in 2005, works on system implementation were carried out by employees of the e-document flow direction of Namip Group. Basic system modules which simplified work with organizational and administrative and internal documents in MISIS were originally implemented.

The version of the Directum 4.3 system became outdated. The university had a need to mastering of new systems capabilities, expansion of the sphere of its application. So, in 2012, the management of MISIS made the decision on transition to the new version of EDMS Directum 4.9. It was supposed that the new version, should allow to increase significantly convenience of work with a system, to give the chance to use new solutions of the company, to increase reliability and speed during the work of a large number of users.

All works connected with transition to the new platform were charged to department of e-document flow of Namip Group which has experience of implementation and maintenance of EDMS at the university. The project was implemented by specialists by January, 2013. Together with updating of the version of Directum, in MISIS the organization of integration with 1C the accounting system is planned.
