The IBS company created a backup system for the EMAlliance power engineering company. In a project deliverable automatic copying and preserving of corporate data at three geographically distributed offices of the company is provided, reliability of work of the internal systems considerably increased, recovery of information in case of damage, failures and unforeseen situations became possible.
JSC Power Machine-building Alliance (EMAlliance) – one of the largest Russian power engineering companies having the international experience and competence in the equipment for thermal power. Branches of the company are open in Moscow, Taganrog, Podolsk, Barnaul and Ivanov. Earlier EMAlliance did not use a backup system of data that increased risks of loss of information.
A new system had to cover three branches of the company: in Moscow, Podolsk, Taganrog. In each of them about several tens servers work, and the total amount of data reaches 15 Tb. The greatest share fell on mail services and file servers.
The IBS company which was attracted to the project on the basis of an open competition proposed the high-performance solution on data management for Wednesdays with the Windows servers. In its basis specialized software of Symantec Backup Exec 2010 and the hardware of production of HP (ProLiant HP servers, HP P2000 G3 MSA disk arrays, tape libraries HP of the MSL series). Specialists of IBS developed the technical proposal, supply of equipment is carried out, commissioning and integration of a system into a corporate IT environment are carried out, the work documentation is prepared.
According to the Associate director on information technologies, JSC EMAlliance of Sergey Novikov: "The IBS company was selected from quality of the general contractor of the project, first of all, because offered a modern solution architecture and a flexible campaign to pricing. Further work showed correctness of such choice: the equipment is supplied completely, and all works are performed qualitatively and at the scheduled time".
In EMAlliance the two-stage scheme of backup was implemented. For operational storage of backup copies the disk array, for long-term storage – tape library was selected. Such approach allowed to reduce the cost of storage of the main data array, at the same time, the most quick access to the most important information is provided.
The project was executed within 8 months.
