Symantec O3

In October, 2011 Symantec at the Vision conference in Barcelona submitted to customers and partners Symantec O3 platform ("About Three") intended for protection of all corporate cloud applicaions and infrastructures. Symantec O3 combines in itself functions of access control, data protection and check of compliance to requirements that will allow corporate customers to apply internal security policies on public and private cloud services.

Cloud computing is one of key trends in development of the IT industry. The enterprises implement SaaS technology, public and private clouds that allows to reduce costs and load of corporate systems. At the same time, concern about security issues, control of compliance to requirements and trust still remains a serious obstacle on the way of implementation of these technologies. New cloud platforms not necessarily are vulnerable, however, there are still not enough full solutions for security and personal data protection.

"In process of implementation of the services provided through cloud environments, the organizations are faced the need to observe balance between obvious benefits and a set of problems. These problems appear while confidential information passes through a large number of service providers, networks and a third party, and then gets on the devices which are not a part of corporate infrastructure, - Art Gilliland, the vice president of group of corporate security of Symantec said, - Symantec O3 will provide the control, management and protection necessary for sure implementation of cloud computing".

Symantec O3 platform helps to solve the sounded problems. It creates a new point of control of security, providing uniform identification and data protection for all cloud services. Symantec O3 provides three key levels of protection. Level of cloud access control uses the authentication infrastructure which is already existing at the enterprise, making authorization and data integration. Level of data protection relies on technologies of Symantec in the field of protection against date leaks (DLP) and enciphering (PGP), providing automatic detection, blocking and enciphering of confidential information before its placement in a cloud. Moreover, processing all data passing through cloud environments, the level of tracking Symantec O3 aggregates all cloud incidents of security, collecting data for implementing solutions on security audit in a cloud environment.

According to recently conducted research of Symantec, 44% of the CEOs said that they carefully belong to transfer of crucial business applications in "cloud", at the same time 76% of the concerns polled as a basic reason note data security in a cloud. Symantec O3 can provide to corporate customers confidence and accelerate moving of corporate resources to public and private clouds.
