The IBM corporation and JSC Krasnoyarsk Hydroelectric Power Station (belongs to EuroSibEnergo company) announced project deliverables on creation and system implementation of monitoring and management of information infrastructure of the enterprise. Main objectives during creation of a system were:
- increase in controllability of IT infrastructure due to regular collection of information about functioning parameters;
- process automation of registration of events, work-related servers and network equipment and also reaction to the arising events in IT infrastructure;
- risk minimization of data loss arising in case of errors and technical failures, ensuring accomplishment of the regulatory and statutory requirements connected with data storage;
- expense optimization on IT, including optimization of use of the existing hardware capacities.
Project implementation allowed the largest hydroelectric power station of Russia to provide more effective control of the systems which are responsible for automation of financial and economic activity of the enterprise, including business and tax accounting systems, managements of a maintenance and repair of the equipment, electronic document management, and trade in the electric power and power. According to the results of creation of a backup system, mean time to repair of services managed to be reduced by 50%.
The project was implemented by forces of the business partner of IBM, Computel company. IBM actively develops the activity in regions of Russia within general strategy of the company on expansion of presence in the growing markets. At the moment IBM in Russia has 15 offices and the service centers, including office in Krasnoyarsk.
The Krasnoyarsk hydroelectric power station on installed capacity takes the second place in Russia and enters ten the largest hydroelectric power stations of the world. The Krasnoyarsk hydroelectric power station is the main power producer in Krasnoyarsk Krai and one of the most economic power plants in the country. Within increase in continuity of administrative processes the management of IT department of the power company made the decision on the beginning of the project on system implementation of monitoring and management of crucial elements of IT infrastructure. Having considered a number of competitive solutions on monitoring and management of information infrastructure, including products of Microsoft, specialists of the Krasnoyarsk hydroelectric power station stopped the choice on the solutions IBM Tivoli.

Prior to the beginning of the project monitoring of IT infrastructure was performed by means of the different built-in means of OS of servers which did not allow to obtain on a centralized basis and quickly information on an infrastructure status that reduced the speed of response to the arising incidents. In the project progress the pilot monitoring system of IT infrastructure including monitoring of server and network resources using the solutions IBM Tivoli Monitoring was customized and implemented. According to the results of implementation the Krasnoyarsk hydroelectric power station had an opportunity on a centralized basis to control an IT infrastructure status. Backup system implementation based on the solutions IBM Tivoli became the next stage of the project on increase in availability and ensuring continuity of a rybota of IT infrastructure. The IBM Blade Center servers, disk storage IBM DS4700 and tape library IBM TS3200 became a hardware platform for a new system.
