Cloud Data Management Interface (CDMI)

The Cloud Data Management Interface standard of SNIA association defines the functional interface which will be used by applications for creation, updating, extraction of data members and their removal from a cloud environment. At the same time the customer has an opportunity to investigate characteristics of the cloud storage and to use the received data for management of different parts of storage and the data placed in them. Besides, when using this interface it is possible to define metadata for the storages and data members which are located in them.

The interface is applied also in order that applications of administration and management could control storages, credentials of users, means of secure access and information on monitoring and billing, and it concerns even storages which are available through other protocols. Possibilities of the relevant storages and services of data are open for customers that they had more specific idea of storage in a cloud.
