Kazatomprom completes system implementation of the management reporting from SAP

The atomic holding "Kazatomprom" decided to pass from Excel to the system of the management reporting based on SAP. However, at this stage of SAP there will be no uniform CIS, and at the bottom level of the enterprise will continue to use the old accounting systems.

The Kazakhstan National atomic company "Kazatomprom", one of the largest uranium mining companies in the world, started the ambitious project on transfer of all enterprises of the company on uniform ERP- the platform SAP (SAP BusinessObjects). Implements the project jointly "Technoserv Consulting" and consultants from PricewaterhouseCoopers.

As told TAdviser in Technoserv Consulting, before SAP implementation in Kazatomprom of automation of collecting and preparation of the management reporting was practically not, and the vast majority of processes was processed by means of Microsoft Excel. So transition from Excel to SAP – the serious evolutionary moment for corporate IT of infrastructure.

When choosing the new uniform ERP platform Kazatamprom also considered solutions of Oracle. "A choice was made for benefit of SAP because this solution provides a full range of the opportunities allowing to receive the necessary result in the field of consolidation of data, to the analysis of planned and actual targets, reconciliation of intra group turnovers and conducting processes of budgeting", - reported in Technoserv Consulting.

The project is going to be completed in July, 2012. The parties do not open its budget. As for features of the solution, it not completely will eliminate the phenomenon which is usually called "scrappy automation". The system of SAP will make a high layer of corporate information infrastructure and will make collecting of actual data from the diverse accounting systems which function at the enterprise.

The solution implemented based on SAP BusinessObjects will affect processes of budgeting and planning, will provide data collection and processing from all enterprises of holding and also will allow to implement the principle of "flat consolidation" when forming the financial and management reporting of group.

It is supposed that the received results will create to heads of holding of an opportunity for the versatile analysis of financial and non-financial information. It should make management of group more effective. Besides, the solution will allow to unify business processes of Kazatomprom: the identity of rules of consolidation of financial statements and plans of the company should become an important element of this system.

Also the Asteros company took part in the project.

2013. End of the Project

Technoserv Consulting and NAC Kazatomprom completed system implementation of the management reporting on the SAP Business Objects 4.0 platform, the press service of the company reported on August 1, 2013.

Project Results

Terms of preparation of the reporting under 74 subsidiary companies of holding were cut by half, and labor costs — almost four times.
