World income from sale of microprocessors for the PC grew in the third quarter 2011 (3Q11) to $10.7 billion that is 12.2% higher in comparison with the second quarter and for 16.1% - in comparison with the third quarter 2010, International Data Corporation (IDC) reports. The supply rate of microprocessors grew by 6.7% in comparison with 2Q11 and for 5.2% in comparison with 3Q10.
According to Shane Rowe (Shane Rau), the head of department of IDC on researches of the market of microprocessors, in the third quarter 2011 the average selling price (ASP) of PCs microprocessors for OEM manufacturing grew more than by 5%, at the same time he noted that the price grew eight quarters in a row.
It is obvious that Sandy Bridge chips of Intel and Fusion company of AMD company with the integrated graphic processors grow in product lines of the companies and cause advance in price. At the same time, the volume of processors of the lowest price category, in particular Atom, decreases as a percentage of sales amount.
Sandy Bridge and Fusion microprocessors contain the integrated graphic processors (IGP). Observations of IDC company show that the supply rate of processors with IGP grew to 73% of the total amount of the PCs processor blocks in the third quarter 2011.
In the third quarter the current year the Intel company received 80.2% of the general share of deliveries of the world market, having given a gain of 0.9% in comparison with the second quarter. Provided to AMD in this period 19.7%, having lost 0.7% in comparison with 2Q11. VIA Technologies earned 0.1% at the corresponding losses in 0.2%.
Results of the third quarter on categories of form factors of products are as follows: Intel provided a share in 82.3% of a segment of mobile processors, having lost 2.1%, completed AMD quarter from shares of 17.6% and a gain of 2.4%, and VIA managed to receive 0.1% of this market. In a segment of processors of servers/workstations of Intel completed quarter from market shares of 95.1%, having given a gain of 0.6%, received AMD 4.9% at losses in 0.6%. In a segment of processors for desktop PCs Intel received 75.8% with a gain in 4.8%, managed to provide to AMD 24.1% of the market at losses of 4.8%.
In the long-term forecast of consumer market of IDC lowered value of growth for PC processors (desktop, mobile, servers on x86 platform) for 2011 from 9.3% to 7.3%, having explained the events with deceleration of consumer demand in a combination to the weak macroeconomic perspectives caused by problems of the European public debt and weak growth of the market of employment of the USA.
