The T-Platforms company, the international developer of supercomputers and the supplier of a full range of solutions and services for high-performance computing, announces the beginning of project implementation on creation of the supercomputer center for the Russian defense industry.
Beginning and bases
Based on the industry center of high-performance computing constructed by request of Central Research and Development Institute Petrel the newest samples of artillery complexes and other types of arms will be developed.
JSC Central Research Institute Burevestnik develops artillery arms by request of Ground forces, Airborne troops and Navy of Russia. In particular, the enterprise develops automatic ship guns, samples of field artillery, wearable and self-propelled mortar complexes and also machines for maintenance and repair of the artillery equipment. The design, scientific, production and testing facilities of Institute allow it to implement a full stroke of creation of the artillery equipment. Implementation of a high-performance cluster will allow JSC Central Research Institute Burevestnik to reduce significantly terms and to reduce the cost of creation of new products due to computer simulation of perspective samples of the special equipment, conditions and processes of their functioning and multiple-factor optimization of construction by different parameters.

Objectives
The project will be implemented by "turnkey" T-Platforms company. The technology basis of a cluster of JSC Central Research Institute Burevestnik will be formed by the computing subsystem with a peak capacity of 50 of Tflops created based on the solution T-Blade V-Slass. In this system support of hybrid computing nodes based on the graphic NVidia Tesla accelerators allowing to reduce considerably time of the solution of the most resource-intensive tasks is implemented. For storage and processing of large volumes of information the solution will include the storage device subsystem guaranteeing optimal conditions of work of all elements of the supercomputer and ample opportunities for its further scaling. Engineering infrastructure will provide regular power supply and optimal conditions of work of a complex.
Opinion of the contractor

Reality in April, 2012
On April 17 within the project of creation of the supercomputer center the first stage of a data processing center of project modeling of perspective samples of artillery arms on the basis of technologies of high-performance computing is launched, according to requirements of the customer.
The computing subsystem with hybrid architecture with peak performance of 15 Tflops is taken now as a basis of DPC. Upon completion of the project it will exceed 57 Tflops.
Application of computing nodes with the integrated graphic accelerators allows to reduce time of the solution of the most resource-intensive tasks connected with reverse engineering of processes of functioning of products.
The storage system of Panasas Active Store 12 included in the structure of the center belongs to fourth generation of DWH of Panasas about a blade - the architecture which is the most full using advantages of the parallel file system of the last generation of Panasas PanFS in combination with multi-core processors and integrated by technology 10 GbE. This system has maximum capacity among SHDs parallel architecture that does by the ideal solution for the most exacting applications applied by the scientific and production enterprises.
Smooth operation of a data processing center is ensured by the infrastructure complex including cooling systems, automatic fire fighting and regular power supply.
