The wholesale company "A wheel row" automated management of a new high-rise warehouse of rims and car tires of 13500 sq.m using WMS "1C Logistics: Management of warehouse 3.0"

Products of Wheel Row company are widely presented at the Russian market of rims and car tires. Now the company is one of the largest and dynamically developing firms in the market of steel and light-alloy wheels for passenger and trucks. The sales network of the company covers practically all regions of Russia. The purpose of the company is increase in efficiency of a distribution network of rims and strengthening of the positions in this market. For achievement of effective objectives in 2011 the Wheel Row company rented 13,500 sq.m in a warehouse complex to Vidnoye, in 4 km from MKAD on Kashirskoye Highway.

For ensuring smooth operation of a new high-rise warehouse, increase in efficiency of personnel, decrease in a resort of goods and reduction of dependence on a human factor the company management decided to implement a new warehouse management system. As a basic system for automation of a warehouse complex the Wheel Row company selected the domestic WMS system "1C Logistics: Management of warehouse 3.0", developed by AXELOT company.

The specifics of inventory accounting of the large company performing wholesale and retail by rims and car tires consist in similarity of goods at the wide range of products. As a rule, the similar goods have visual similarity, the same characteristics and can differ with the only thing with difficult distinguishable parameter: diameter, model, color hue, material. Buses can have similarity according to the drawing of a protector, and disks with different characteristics – to be in identical packaging. In a small warehouse with floor placement of goods and experienced personnel this problem is not so critical for activity of the company. However the warehouse complex of the big area with intensive turnover (8500 active positions) and high-rise racks does not allow to rely on knowledge and experience of individual employees any more.

Deadlines of the project on implementation of WMS which was carried out along with moving to a new warehouse complex on the eve of a peak season of shipment demanded hard work of all project team they from which Wheel Row company entered, including, the head of IT department, commercial and financial directors. Development of conceptual design of a system was conducted by experts of AXELOT company taking into account features of a warehouse complex (the big area, a high-rise warehouse, zoning), specifics of a product line and the executed warehouse business processes. Automatic placement of goods taking into account nomenclature properties was implemented – goods with identical properties are placed near the purpose of ensuring simplicity of search of goods and economy of the areas of a warehouse. For a resort exception at an order complete set, each box with disks is subject to scanning. Also special acceptance procedures and complete sets of orders were developed for component parts to disks, personnel areas of responsibility on commodity groups are entered.

Within the project the set of the practical tasks connected with specifics of a product line of the customer was solved. In addition to address accounting, a system was complemented with new parameters and product characteristics: model, diameter, a departure, design, color and also a number of special parameters of marking of disks and buses both for passenger, and for trucks.

For automation of process of acceptance, inventory and a complete set of orders integration of a management system with radio data collection terminals of Mototola 3190/9090 and also with mobile printers of the Zebra RW420 labels was carried out. For work of operators 5 stationary and 10 mobile jobs were organized. Integration of a system "1: S-logistics: Management of warehouse 3.0" with the information system "1C: Integrated Automation 8.2" allowed to make out orders for the main warehouse from the central office.

And thought over in a new warehouse the scheme of acceptance, placement and shipment of goods became more convenient. The storage area for passenger and cargo disks separate. For easier disks for cars shelf storage on high-rise cargo racks is used. Selection of similar goods is conducted using the piler picker. For cargo disks floor storage on pallets in three tiers as the goods heavy and shipment of orders are conducted generally by pallets is selected. As the goods dimensional are also loaded mainly by trucks, for its acceptance and shipment the big areas are selected and to optimize movements of personnel and technicians on a warehouse for a complete set of orders, the wave type of selection is used. At the same time within the project process of sorting of goods by orders in a separate zone was also automated.

Along with completion and implementation of WMS "1C Logistics: Management of warehouse 3.0" the AXELOT company made delivery and setup of all equipment for providing its full-fledged work: design of Wi-fi of network and access points; integration of mobile terminals of data collection and printers of the barcode; installation of servers for work of information bases "1C: Enterprise"; acceptance testing and initial maintenance of the equipment and system; training of employees.

The personnel of a warehouse positively reacted to implementation of the modern WMS system as it simplified accomplishment of a set of standard warehouse transactions, accelerated carrying out inventories and significantly facilitated selection and a complete set of orders. As all transactions are executed using radio data collection terminals, it was succeeded to exclude completely resort cases at shipment of goods and thus, to improve customer service quality.

Igor Volobuyev, the commercial director of Wheel Row company, notes: "To speak about specific digits of economic effect so far early as the season for this type of business only begins, but already now it is possible to note that due to competent zoning and the correct selection of the equipment the efficiency grew. Full automation of a warehouse and use of technologies of barcoding allowed to perform quick search of goods in an address space of a new warehouse and to considerably increase the speed of a complete set of orders and to reduce quantity of errors at selection".

All transactions are executed under control of an automated system "by 1C-Logistik: Management of warehouse 3.0" that minimizes dependence on a human factor. It is possible to note that the Wheel Row company is completely ready to peak loads and is capable to expedite and qualitatively any individual orders of the clients during "a high season" when buses and disks disperse as "hot pies".
