Mostransnefteprodukt (HP System Insight Manager (SIM)

The TopS BI company completed an implementation project of a backup system and data recovery in JSC Mostransnefteprodukt. A new system allowed to protect the data stored on servers and to provide the continuity of business processes of the company.

In 2011 the management of JSC Mostransnefteprodukt made the decision to implement the system of protection and recovery of corporate data to reduce risks of loss of information and to provide reliability of course of business processes in the company.

"Creation of a system of copying and disaster recovery of all information which is stored on servers, first of all, was caused by significant increase in amount of data, including from business and critical applications, - Alexander Soldatov, the deputy chief engineer for an ACS of JSC Mostransnefteprodukt explained. - The specialists of TopS BI company having solid experience of implementation of infrastructure projects helped us to solve successfully this problem".

At the same time among the main requirements of the company there were optimal use of resources and simplicity of administration. Experts of TopS BI created a backup system of the existing computer system as a part of servers and software products. Within the project the high-performance and scalable solution of HP of Data Protector 6.11 was used. The choice of this version was caused by economic model of licensing and also the fact that later releases were not supported by the ERP system of Oracle functioning in Mostransnefteprodukt company.

A new system gives an opportunity of recovery of the protected data after logical or machine failure. Accomplishment of data backup of the critical systems is made without stopping applications in the automatic mode, or on demand. A system allows to execute data recovery and to record backup operation and recovery.

The monitoring system based on a product of HP System Insight Manager (SIM) executing pro-active status monitoring and operability of the equipment of JSC Mostransnefteprodukt, inventory and display of structure and basic settings of the used technical means in the single console of monitoring became a component of a backup system. The monitoring system constantly analyzes information from different sources (trap-messages of SNTP, external programs, etc.) and in case of failures notifies administrators.

The monitoring system allowed to reveal weak points in operation of the server hardware which were eliminated afterwards, to involve the functions of remote control which are not used earlier servers and network equipment.

The selected solution allowed to use optimum backup devices (data are stored in tape libraries) and to organize operational monitoring of incidents.
