Development of IT in Russia is revaluated?

The research of subjective appraisals of development of the Russian IT market was conducted on the basis of poll of participants of the International computer forum in which, in addition to heads of many known Russian IT companies also large government officials took part. The polling list included 18 information technologies (the broadband Internet, virtualization of servers, Grid-calculations, etc.), 21 classes of solutions (ERP, CRM, SCM, etc.) and also 24 types of IT services (system integration, outsourcing of applications, consulting in the field of business applications and some other).

Collected data on subjective perception of a status and perspectives of IT in Russia then were compared to assessment received by the detailed analysis of 10 criteria which are rather objectively reflecting provision of specific technologies, solutions and services in the Russian market (such as share of the companies using these directions in the business among those who could use potentially them, etc.).

This comparison, according to Real of IT, revealed essential differences between subjective and objective development evaluations of the Russian IT. In particular, on subjective appraisals, to reaching the level of productive use of the solutions ERP and system integration there were less than 2 years whereas by more objective estimates on it from 2 to 5 years are required. Survey participants estimated time before transition to productive use of CRM and SRM in 2-5 years whereas by calculations of analysts, this term is estimated in 5-10 years. 

According to analysts, results of a research testify to unfairly optimistic assessment of a status and perspectives of information technologies, solutions and services in Russia occurring among leaders of the domestic IT industry. Obviously, numerous marketing campaigns, together with information closeness of the market, played not the last role disorientations  of both domestic consumers of IT,  and their suppliers.

According to the Chairman of the board of League of independent experts in the field of IT Sergey Karelov: "So unjustified optimism among businessmen, specialists and responsible state officials on whom acceptance of strategic decisions in the field of information technology development in Russia in many respects depends is very dangerous sign. Along with underestimation of the importance of IT for carrying out post-industrial upgrade in Russia, revaluation of a current status and perspectives of development of domestic IT can become the reason of acceptance of wrong strategy, both at the level of the separate industry, and at the level of all economy of Russia".
