Huawei Intelligent Data-center Solution - IDS

Huawei announced in November, 2011 release of the eco-friendly modular data processing centers (DPC) for cloud computing.

The president of the direction of power and infrastructure solutions of Huawei Hou Jinlong noted: "The modular IDS series opens the new direction in creation of data processing centers worldwide. Together with partners the Huawei company works on creation of the last generation of a modular framework for data processing centers. Its primary characteristics are the unified planning of all components of DPC, low power consumption, a possibility of deployment on demand. These solutions will allow customers to cut down operating costs more than for 30% and to lay the foundation for a new era in the field of cloud computing".

The volume of the processed data on a global scale will continue to grow. For the satisfaction of the increased requirements to service the companies will need operational deployment of broadband services and data processing centers on the basis of cloud computing. The complexity of implementation consists in need of a successful combination of high-performance computing with infrastructure of a data processing center with simultaneous reduction of the cost level and energy consumption.

Traditional data processing centers are often not capable to increase efficiency of use of energy and to provide flexible scaling in process of business growth. Besides, they do not allow to implement intellectual processes of management of a system. For the solution of this task the Huawei company created a series of intellectual data processing centers of new generation (Intelligent Data-center Solution - IDS) which will help customers to increase efficiency of carrying out business operations and to implement access to IT resources on demand. The latest equipment will allow clients to avoid the large capital costs and operating expenses connected with the increased energy consumption.

The president of division of IT solutions of Huawei company Li Sanqi explained that the main concept of Huawei company in the field of infrastructure of data processing centers on the basis of cloud computing is intellectual management with a high density of deployment, economy of energy and flexible expansion. The Huawei IDS series includes mobile data processing centers (IDS1000) and DPCs of modular type (IDS2000) which have the simplified construction for effective reduction of requirements to the area of autohalls and production premises.

IDS1000 is created for use out of premises: it does not require existence of the autohall that will help customers to reduce designing stage duration from six to two months. Besides, IDS1000 consumes 50% less energy, than normal autohalls. The equipment is suitable for use in the area subject to influence of extreme temperatures. As a result of IDS1000 can work even in natural disasters, large-scale actions or the military operations.

IDS2000 uses advanced technologies of cooling, including separation of flows of a cold and hot air, exact air supply and outside cooling for ensuring effective energy consumption (Power Usage Effectiveness - PUE) with value less than 1.2. A system uses the intelligent system of management of Huawei iFOS created on the basis of the visual expert system which is dynamically regulating power supply and cooling according to loading of the platform of cloud computing. It allows to implement uniform intellectual management for exact performing transactions using the IT equipment and infrastructure of the autohall. This equipment is suitable for modular creation and expansion of average and large data processing centers.
