VIPRE Internet Security 2012

Product
Developers: GFI Software
Technology: Firewall

The packet of VIPRE Internet Security 2012 contains all safety features traditional included in solutions of this class, and many components underwent serious improvements. So, the built-in firewall became more flexible in hands-off processing of circulation of annexes to the Internet. For example, "white lists" for obviously safe applications are maintained – it reduces number of false operations. Spam filter can work at the level of protocols now that allows to spam-protect practically any email client working under POP3 protocol. Protection of browsers blocks loading of dangerous files and warns about attempt of an input on potentially dangerous websites.

As developers emphasize, products of the VIPRE Antivirus/Internet Security series, first of all, represent the minimum set of necessary and obligatory instruments of protection. To provide such minimalism, developers refused functions of backup in online storage, functions of parent control and start of potentially dangerous files in the isolated "sandbox". Nevertheless, in packets of VIPRE Antivirus and Internet Security 2012 there are several additional functions. For example, function of safe destruction of files helps to exclude recovery of confidential data after erasing, and the command of destruction of history deletes all chronological data on work of the user with the Windows operating system and also with browsers and other applications. One more module under the name PC Explorer displays low-level data on the machine which will help with diagnostics of virus epidemics: the list of the loaded ActiveX elements, automatically loaded applications, support entities of Internet Explorer, change in the HOSTS file, etc.

The main advantage of the new products GFI should be considered their compact sizes and the minimum consumption of computing resources. Even during the scanning of systems and an output of the main interface in a system no more than three processes which seldom consume more than 10% of resources of the processor work and occupy no more than 50 MB of RAM (in standby mode consumption of memory decreases to 5-6 MB).
