Moscow, on December 13, 2011 – The ABBYY Company, the leading world software developer and service provider in the field of linguistics, recognitions of documents and data entry, announces successful system implementation of stream input of data and the documents ABBYY FlexiCapture in General Operator of Lotteries LLC company, being one of the largest lottery operators in the country. System implementation of ABBYY allowed to solve a problem of automatic recognition and data entry within the charitable project "Lottery of the Railroads" aimed at the help to sick children.

The General Operator of Lotteries LLC company issues lottery tickets and sells them in cash desks and long distance trains, in the trains "Sapsan" and "Allegro". From the moment of start of "A lottery of the railroads" the number of the sold tickets grows approximately for 30% a month. Now in a month more than 120 thousand such tickets are on sale. After implementation of each of them conductors of trains or cashiers paste a response part of the lottery ticket in the sheet and enter by hand 13 digits of number of the railway travel document. As a result there is a huge number of the sheets requiring processing (on average, the conductor sells about 4 lottery tickets for run).

So for holding draws, determination of winners and maintaining financial statements under the sold lottery tickets the company was faced the need of translation of all documents in an electronic form.

Two options of accomplishment of this task were considered: using manual entry and using the solution for stream input of data. When choosing the first option it would be required to involve a large number of home workers. In that case the quantity of errors could increase, and it would be impossible to check correctness of introduction of data that would lead to additional costs.

The choice of the automated solution was more priority for company management as it is obvious that any error at manual entry will cause the wrong distribution of prize fund, moreover – the ticket of the participant can not get to a lottery draw at all.

For this reason company management "General operator of lotteries" made the decision to use the system of automatic recognition and data entry of ABBYY FlexiCapture for processing of hand-written documentation. The software package of ABBYY was selected thanks to such key features as scalability, deployment speed, high quality of recognition and stability of data processing. Implementation of ABBYY FlexiCapture in the company allowed to perform scanning of sheets, recognition, verification and export of information to the 1C: Enterprise system.

During the project the staff of ABBYY developed the special template allowing to take qualitatively data from sheets. At the same time it was succeeded to lower sharply percent of errors as due to automation influence of a human factor on business processes is minimized.

During two-month work the solution ABBYY FlexiCapture allowed to increase significantly data processing rate without increase in personnel resources of the company. So monthly by means of the system of ABBYY about 50,000 sheets are processed. Processing of documentation is carried out at the Moscow office of "The general operator of lotteries" – sheets are scanned on the high-speed document scanner, and verification of data is executed in parallel by several operators.

At the moment the works on ABBYY FlexiCapture system implementation in General Operator of Lotteries company are completed. However further the number of the sold lottery tickets will grow, so, processing of bigger number of pages and implementation of new operator stations can be required. Even in this case the company will not need to involve additional specialists. The perspective of such expansion is initially put in the implemented project.

"First of all our project was created with the charitable purposes therefore it got support of the management of JSC "Russian Railways", – Anton Saskovets, the deputy CEO of General Operator of Lotteries company says. – To us it is very important that charitable money from lottery activity brought real benefit to sick children. It is not less important that participants of a lottery knew: it is not deception, prize fund is played fairly, the real passengers who purchased the lottery ticket win. So, extreme clearness in all technical transactions is necessary for us, each incorrectly recognizable digit can spoil to someone mood or to become the reason of additional expenditure from an operating company of a lottery! Therefore for automation of input and data processing from sheets we used the solution ABBYY FlexiCapture".
