Information and analytical system of support of management decisions for freight transportation (IAS PUR GP)

On December 15, 2011 the IBA company put in commercial operation the Commissions of the Belarusian Railroad (BR) the software package "Information and Analytical System of Support of Management Decisions for Freight Transportation (IAS PUR GP)".

Railway transport is one of the most knowledge-intensive branches of the economy which effective development is inseparably linked with widespread introduction of the latest developments of the IT industry. Rail transportation is the most profitable, especially in modern economic conditions, the delivery type of loads optimal on a ratio the price quality of the provided services. Therefore reliability augmentation and controllability of infrastructure, safety of rail transportation, transparency of business processes are vital for this industry.

Work on the project of one of core elements of the end-to-end information system (ETEIS) of BZhD was conducted by IBA for 10 years, since 2002.

PUR GP completely replaced with IAS the obsolete "Automated system of operational management of freight transportation (ASOUP)" operated on the Belarusian railroad from 70th years of the last century and became the chief managing director the rule at information processing about transportation process which is transferred by stations of the road.

The created System is intended for information support of acceptance of the justified management decisions for the purpose of increase in efficiency, increase in volumes and quality of transportations, reduction of transportation costs, issue of prompt responses to workers of the road on the set requests in a document type and the references using Internet technologies with a possibility of carrying out contrastive analysis with similar indicators for the previous intervals.

The complex of IAS PUR of GP includes the following asynchronously functioning subsystems:

  • The router of entrance messages — processes the entrance messages arriving from all subscribers of BZhD, redirects them to necessary subsystems of IAS PUR to GP and provides a feedback of a system with subscribers
  • The operational circuit of freight transportation (GP software) — consists of the operational database (OD) and a complex of control, processing and the layout of input information in a DB and also calculation of the program created indicators
  • The historical circuit of freight transportation (PI GP) — includes the historical database (HD) and the software complex of the layout, calculation and aggregation of the data arriving from PI GP
  • Complex of the software of data transmission — also PI GP implements multithreaded data transmission between software of GP
  • The data warehouse — consists of a DB and software of calculation of the program created indicators and aggregation of data
  • Subsystem of Normative Reference Information (PE NSI) — for the centralized storage of the corporate regulatory information and also for maintaining and making changes in this information
  • The subsystem of key performance indicators of activity (KPI) — consists of a DB and the software complex of formation and calculation of the key indicators characterizing activity of BZhD (including "The daily report on work of the road") and also software of formation of the standard reports approved by service of Statistics of BZhD. Output solutions form by Business Objects
  • Subsystem of technical regulation of activity of BZhD (TNERD) — for formation of monthly regulations and plans, means of maintaining and adjustment and also transfer of planned values in KPI
  • The analysis system of Efficiency of Activity of BZhD (AED) — allows to carry out the comprehensive unrolled analysis of indicators of activity of each of services, to keep track of interrelation between different indicators, dynamics of their change and also a contribution of structural divisions of BZhD to formation of total value of an indicator. The complex has a powerful tool of information visualization and is used when holding meetings and planning meetings in Management of BZhD. The main source given for a DB of AED are TNERD given subsystems and KPI.

All applications within IAS PUR of GP have the similar interface, the most clear and simple for the end user that significantly simplifies work and training of staff of BZhD.

Implementation corporate IAS PUR GP allowed to automate such activities of the customer as management of freight and passenger traffic, creation of daily reports on work of stations and departments, wagon repair accounting, delivery of cars in lease, planning of cargo loading, etc.

"An information and analytical system of support of management decisions for freight transportation (IAS PUR of GP)" on BZhD by right can call the project on creation implemented by IBA company unique as in terms of the scope of automation, a geographically-distributed structure and amount of works it has no analogs in Belarus.
