Xerox and "Lenta" companies announced the first results of the joint project on transfer of management of office printing infrastructure of retail network on outsourcing in Xerox. The project covers all objects of Lenta company: the central office in St. Petersburg, the distribution center and 42 hypermarkets of network. As a result of the performed complex optimization less than in one year the total cost of a laser print, on a response of the customer, was reduced by 30% in comparison with indicators for the beginning of the project. Xerox constantly analyzes the data obtained during process management of a common seal Lenta and continues works on optimization.
Now hypermarkets of Lenta network work in 22 cities of Russia. Industry specifics and scale of business of Lenta assume intensive paper document flow: monthly in the company about 3.5 million prints — agreements, accounts, warehouse documentation, marketing and promotional products, materials are produced for scenery of trading floors, etc. Prior to cooperation with Xerox in 2010. The IT department of Lenta company independently managed the multivendor park of a printing equipment and all processes of the organization and support of office printing. However the intensive growth of the company and active regional expansion set the task of conversion of internal resources on problems of support of business development.
Having analyzed the market of MPS (Managed Print Services, management of printing infrastructure) and also the level of examination and a possibility of players of the market of services of outsourcing, the management of Tape selected Xerox as the profile partner for optimization of the office infrastructure and printing processes.
Within cooperation the following purposes of the long-term joint project were defined: release of own Films resources for the solution of profile problems of business development; reducing costs for printing of documents; minimization of investments from retail network into development of own printing infrastructure; simplification of the scheme of budgeting and expense allocation on printing infrastructure. Preparation for implementation of the project began fall of 2010. At the initial stage experts of Xerox conducted comprehensive examination of the existing infrastructure and processes of office printing of the customer, developed the scheme of their optimization and approved rules of customer interaction within rendering services.
The first stage of the project was started at the central office, the distribution center and hypermarkets of network in St. Petersburg. Further expansion was aimed at all regional hypermarkets and distribution centers of the company. The approved work plan assumed connection of all objects to the project during the last quarter year — the period with traditionally high loading of human, logistic and other resources. Despite extremely deadlines, by December 1, 2010 in all operating hypermarkets of Lenta network in 19 cities of Russia the service of MPS was started.
Today the joint project of Xerox and Tape is implemented in 22 cities of the Russian Federation where there is a retail network. In general it included: rationalization of the park of office printing equipment; the choice of devices for the solution of specific business challenges; choice of optimal arrangement of list devices; optimization of a system of delivery of supplies; selection of the qualified profile personnel for support of infrastructure; creation of uniform technical support service; implementation of permanent remote monitoring of printing infrastructure.

In spite of the fact that the market of these services, in our opinion, still rather young, together with Xerox we organized project team which managed to carry out implementation on all our objects to most short time" — the head of department of IT investments of Lenta company Andrey Tarasov noted.

5 years in the project
On October 15, 2015 the companies Xerox also "Tape" announced results of the first five years of the project outsourcing of service of printing.
During cooperation of costs of the customer on printing were reduced by 36%, the continuity of business processes was provided, resources for the solution of the main business challenges are released.

In September, 2010 the Lenta company transferred infrastructure management of printing in shops, distribution centers and the central office on outsourcing of Xerox company. The MPS project implemented in Lenta has no analogs in the Russian retail by quantity of points of presence of the outsourcer. In 5 years of action of the project its geography is extended from 42 objects and 660 items of equipment at the end of 2010 to 164 objects and 2424 units in August, 2015.
In a month Tape produces about 9.3 million units of printed materials, including price labels, technical specifications, promotional materials and office documents. At the same time printing volume in four distribution logistic centers of the company where delivery of goods and its further shipment to shops of network is made, considerably exceeds office document flow and reaches nearly 1 million copies a month.
The nature of printing represents continuous process of production of the commodity accompanying documentation.
With implementation of service of MPS the retail network reduced costs for printing more than by a third, even at increase in a share of color proofs up to 10% of total amount. One of the main features of the project - upgrade of the park of the equipment by Xerox company without attraction of capital investments from the customer.
