Lukoil-Inform (Microsoft Enterprise Project Management (EPM))

LUKOIL-INFORM is parent organization on information technological support of activity of the Lukoil Group. Its tasks include development, implementation and maintenance of the integrated management systems in Lukoil vertically integrated oil company, production management systems and technology processes, ensuring corporate information security, development and service of telecommunication infrastructure. LUKOIL-INFORM - one of the largest telecom operators of Russia in the information and technology market of services cooperating with the leading world companies in this area.

In 2006 in LUKOIL-INFORM the department of the organization of project management for which the task of creation of an effective project management system was set was created.

Historically project management in different divisions LUKOIL-INFORM was exercised of different methods – there was no uniform methodology and the information platform for project management. For example, schedules of projects were kept both in the Microsoft Project files of different versions, and in files of Excel. For the organization of joint work plans were sent by e-mail that led to loss of current versions, to impossibility to quickly monitor changes and to carry out the analysis on all set of at the same time implemented projects. These and other problems became the reason of start of process of creation of the Corporate System of Project Management (CSPM).

The following priorities of the project were formulated:

• formalization and standardization of objects and management processes, procedures and document forms on project management in the form of the standard of project management;
• personnel training, involved in project management, to accomplishment of the duties according to the developed standard;
• creations and implementations of an information system of support of processes of management of projects, project portfolio of the company.

When choosing possible ways of solving the task specialists LUKOIL-INFORM elaborated a number of criteria with which future system had to satisfy:

• Existence of functions of scheduling;
• Focus for collaboration through web, including work of remote branches;
• Simplicity of mastering and availability of the standard interface, "ease" of a system in implementation;
• Existence in the market of the qualified supplier on system deployment, consulting, personnel training;
• An opportunity to receive practical results from system implementation in the shortest possible time.
