On December 28 the Intel company began deliveries of novyshy Atom chips for netbooks - an important step in maintenance of growth of inexpensive PCs as the answer to an impact of tablets.
It is said in the statement of Intel that the dual core chips which are a part of the platform code-named Cedar Trail will improve performance, will prolong life to the battery of the netbook and will improve the overall performance of devices. It is supposed that leading manufacturers of personal computers, including Hewlett-Packard, Acer, Lenovo, Toshiba, Asus and Samsung will begin deliveries of netbooks with Cedar Trail chips in January at the price of $199.
Together with decrease in energy consumption by 20% (in comparison with the previous versions of processors of this type), Intel doubled graphics performance, says the company. According to the statement, new chips will be able to provide till 10 o'clock independent operation of the netbook from one recharge.
Cedar Trail chips are an important step in attempts of Intel to improve netbooks to which the blow as a result of the growing demand for tablets, such as iPad from Apple was struck. The press secretary of Intel reported that though producers of computing devices also can install Cedar Trail in tablets, most of clients of the company select for this purpose Medfield or Clover Trail processors which will leave in the nearest future.
The company saves the positive forecast concerning netbooks, despite the growing pressure from tablets. Though deliveries of netbooks fell in the USA and Western Europe, in developing countries, such as India and China, market growth is observed, Intel stated.
New chips provide reproduction of HD video and support of HDMI ports (the multimedia interface of high definition) on a chipset that allows to connect netbooks to HD TVs. Other functionality of chipsets includes wireless technology of transfer of images and music on TVs.
