The international company Danone works in more than 120 countries worldwide. The head enterprise located in France creates requirements for the reporting which regional divisions submit to the management of concern.

In Danone much attention is paid to quality. Including events for increase in efficiency of use of production lines are held. The Danone company developed the internal corporate standard of the reporting under production efficiency for performance monitoring of use of the equipment.

Preparation of the reporting is performed as follows: collection of information is conducted with production lines by a specialized production management system – MES (Manufacturing Execution System). For preparation of the reporting in Danone-Yunimilk (division of Danone in Russia) used Microsoft Excel. Processing of tables had a number of shortcomings. First of all, entering of data into the MS Excel took a lot of time. Besides, there were unsatisfactory terms of preparation of the reporting for carrying out efficiency analysis of production lines.

On the one hand, the tool was necessary for preparation of the reporting of the internal standard for providing in head enterprise. With another – there was a need for information analysis for identification of effectiveness of actions for increase in efficiency of the equipment.

For satisfaction of business needs the decision to implement a modern BI system is made, the following requirements were imposed to it:

1. Compliance to the corporate standard of the reporting

2. Lack of distortion of data

3. A possibility of data analysis with hourly detailing of efficiency of use of production lines

4. Support of an associative data model

5. Automatic update of data on the schedule

6. Support of web access and mobile devices

7. System availability 24/7

According to the results of tender by the contractor of the project the Jet Infosystems company was selected. When choosing the contractor existence of necessary competences in the business analysis and consulting and also practical experience in creation of the systems of the class BI was considered.

Solution

As support of an associative data model (each value of each field is connected with all other values in all data model) was one of requirements to a system, the decision to use as technology base the QlikView platform – the analytical platform of the class Business Discovery in which control of interrelations between data is exercised at the level of internal mechanisms of the platform was made. A system stores in RAM separate data tables and associative communications between them. When the user makes the choice, all model is recalculated – only the values connected with the choice participate in calculations.

The project was implemented in several stages:

• operational efficiency;
• hourly report on efficiency of use of the equipment;
• dynamics of release and operational efficiency;
• report on efficiency.

Result

According to the results of the project the customer received a modern BI system which helps to estimate timely efficiency of production lines of the plant and promotes operational acceptance of effective business solutions. A system allows to control efficiency of lines, to trace technology stops and their reasons.

One more feature of the implemented solution – all necessary data can be obtained by means of the browser from any computer or the notebook, the mobile device. Besides, the special client provides an opportunity offline - access: even when access to the server is impossible, data can be analyzed locally using the client application installed on the PC.

The analysis system of production efficiency is easy-to-work also service, it is easily configured: if necessary even the appearance of diagrams, tables and other elements of the application can be finished by the system administrator without participation of developers.
