The scientific project industrial complex "TyumenNIIgiprogaz" (NPPK "TNGG") is affiliated enterprise JSC Gazprom, is formed in 1966. Its distinctive feature is the finished cycle of scientific and project and also industrial ensuring mastering of fields from seismic exploration before production and commissioning. Now the organization is engaged in scientific and project ensuring development of the enterprises of the gas industry in Western and Eastern Siberia, promotes reduction of terms of mastering of fields due to complex approach and implementation of the innovative solutions. Only in 2010 the stock gain according to the recommendations of TyumenNIIgiprogaz made about a third of the general gain on JSC Gazprom.
IT environment status prior to the beginning of the project
Lack of the failsafe centralized data warehouse of large volume. Need for more productive and reliable computing system of processing of seismoprospecting data.
Situation
"The exit to new fields, especially in areas of Eastern Siberia, demanded from TyumenNIIgiprogaz of new methods and more perfect technologies, in particular, implementation of the new algorithms allowing to process the acquired information. The problems existing by then in IT infrastructure - the absence of the centralized storage of seismic data, low degree of fault tolerance, capacity of computing systems of processing of seismicity - significantly slowed down development of activity in this area", - comments on a situation before the Sergey Nikolaevich Mikhiyenkov project, the general director assistant on ICT of TyumenNIIgiprogaz.
Solution
Based on collected information and infrastructure, specialists of HOST Group proposed two solutions of the tasks existing at TyumenNIIgiprogaz based on a computing cluster, servers and storage systems.
The first technical solution proposed by HOST Group consisted in implementation of the scaled otkazo-and disaster-proof network storage distributed between two platforms with asynchronous replication on IP channels. Two servers of IBM h3550 M3 under control of a specialized software of Symantec FileStore and storage system of EMC CX4-120 became a basis of each platform. Such architecture provided transparent and simple scaling taking into account the growing requirements of the organization for performance and capacity and also necessary functionality on management and protection placed on an information warehouse.
Along with the first solution, specialists of HOST Group implemented the second – on creation of the high-performance computing platform. Eight scalable IBM x3950 M2 servers and two storage systems of EMC SH4-240 intended for placement of the processed information were a part of the computer system. The remote replication implemented between disk arrays provided the high level of safety of information. For local replication of data, protection against logical errors are used "instant pictures" and clones of volumes according to backup policy.

Result
The solutions created within the complex project of HOST Group provide essential increase in productivity of the computing system which allowed TyumenNIIgiprogaz to carry out quicker calculations of seismoprospecting data and to use more difficult models of processing. Reliability of the implemented systems, on expert evaluations, was 99.999%
"Capacity of the computing system of TyumenNIIgiprogaz increased on average by 4 times. Thanks to it, we could reduce significantly computation time of the standard tasks necessary for seismic exploration data analysis.
