IBM officially started at the beginning of 2012 beta testing of a cloud service of IBM Docs for work with documents, spreadsheets and the presentations via the web interface, ZDNet reports.
As well as Google Docs and Office 365, service allows to carry out collective work on documents. However it offers also unique feature - a possibility of employees with different job responsibilities to work with different separate sections of documents. Administrators are given an opportunity to define what employees will have access to these or those sections.
In the first half of 2012 IBM Docs will earn from private cloud platforms of a number of clients of IBM. The final version of service is going to be provided in the second half of year.
The IBM Docs service is a part of a cloud platform of IBM LotusLive. Its development was conducted within two last years, reported in the company.
