In November, 2011 IDC conducted a research of the planned IT expenses of 590 organizations in six regions of Western Europe. Its main results:
- about 40% of the organizations IT - the equipment, the software and services expect to increase financing of expenses on external. About 17% in 2012 assume decrease in these costs. The others expect to hold them at the level of 2011, and only a quarter from those who plan growth of costs in 2012, are going to increase them by 5% and more.
- according to answers of respondents, in 2011 about 43% of the companies increased expenses by external IT, providing them for all year while about 20% of the enterprises reduced the costs.
- the organizations of Western Europe, having taken the IT budget of external costs of 2012 as a basis, create stagnation in the market in comparison with the actual characteristics of costs for IT in 2011.
The author of the report Douglas Hayward, the director of IDC of researches in Europe, noted that though at first sight these cost plans can seem optimistic, considering economic conditions, actually IT budgets of external costs for 2012 are reduced is equivalent to budgets of 2011.
When IDC conducted survey in the beginning of 2011, 46% of the companies of Western Europe in 2011 expected growth of costs on external IT and only 14% assumed them to reduce. It means that during 2011 the organizations carried out reduction of the average costs on IT in comparison with the levels planned at the beginning of a year.
According to IDC company, restraint of IT expenses in process of succession of events of 2011 was reaction to decrease in consumer and business confidence, graceful degradation of economic perspectives within a year.
According to Hayward, this year will be rather conservative for most the companies in Western Europe. "In real terms this influence will be not absolutely drama, and budgets of 2012 will not fall to the actual results of 2011. However leaves, 2012 develops so that it will become similar for the end of 2011... Only a little worse", - the analyst emphasized.
Despite conservatism and care, the enterprises of Western Europe are still interested available at themselves several "hot" technologies, including cloud computing and SaaS, new storages, virtualization and rationalization of IT infrastructure, adjustment of technologies for jobs of end users, at last - deployment of the applications either reducing current expenses, or promoting creation of new sources of income.
