Oracle SPARC Netra T4

Product
The name of the base system (platform): Oracle SPARC T4
Developers: Oracle
Date of the premiere of the system: January, 2012
Branches: Telecommunication and communication
Technology: Server platforms

Oracle announced at the beginning of 2012 availability of a new series of the SPARC Netra T4 servers which are focused on work in communication networks of new generation and in data processing centers of cloud "orientation". Solutions will be available in several modifications with quad-core (32 flows, the frequency of 2.85 GHz) or eight-nuclear (64 flows, frequency is also equal to 2.85 GHz) processors.

Machines work running the Oracle Solaris 11 operating system which is specially optimized for work with cloud services. This version of the operating system offers a full range of opportunities for management on the scale of all infrastructure — the operating system, physical hardware, networks and storage systems and also the virtualized layer.

Servers of an operator class are executed in body 2U, have 16 slots for RAM of DDR3 (the maximum amount of 256 Gbytes), 4 Gigabit Ethernet ports and two ports 10 Gigabit Ethernet which are offered optionally. The Netra Sparc T4-1 model can contain up to four 2.5-inch drives which are installed in the right part of the body and also to five devices with the PCI Express x8 interface. Depending on the selected options the machine is estimated by the amount from $15386 to $48512.

The Netra Sparc T4-2 servers use the two-socket motherboard, support up to 512 Gbytes of RAM, 4 Gigabit Ethernet ports and 4 ports 10 Gigabit Ethernet, eight 2.5-inch drives and four devices with the PCI Express x8 interface. The cost of the solution varies from $44945 to $93448, depending on the selected options.

The blade server of Netra Sparc T4-1B in a configuration is similar to the Netra Sparc T4-1 model, but has no own slots for peripheral devices, received only two Gigabit Ethernet connectors and the place for installation of two drives. The price component of the solution varies from 15981 to 39950 US dollars. For all machines Oracle suggests to purchase a storage system of Storage 2500-M2 if regular opportunities on the organization of a disk subsystem are not enough.
