Implementation of examination from ATK consulting group

The ATK consulting group implemented the BI solution of ATK QlikView for Retail in the Retail SPAR supermarket chain (works under a brand Spar in Moscow, the Moscow region, Vladimir and Yaroslavl).

Failure from integrator

As the head of development of corporate information systems of the Vladimirov SPAR company Retail Maxim reported TAdviser, when planning transition to other system, the company had rather limited budget and therefore after a certain stage (implementation of ATK QlikView for Retail), Spar Russia refused third-party partners and long time managed by forces of own employees.

Completion of implementation by 1C-BIT integrator

"When we understood that by the efforts we will implement for a long time, the company increased the budget, and we attracted as the partner of 1C-BIT who in one and a half months completed the project", - Vladimirov continued.

Intermediate results

On intermediate results of the project, in SPAR as of November, 2012 on the basis of QlikView a system for goods turnover analysis, the analysis of stability of the range and the analysis of a commodity remaining balance which helps to increase efficiency of short-term planning of trade inventories was implemented.

Before QlikView implementation, the analytical reporting in the company was prepared on the basis of data from the transaction Microsoft Dynamics AX system. However the processing speed of such reports and depth of the analysis did not suit employees and the management of SPAR. By words Vladimirov, intermediate updating of data could borrow till 14 o'clock, and data-refresh on a remaining balance - till 20 o'clock.

Microsoft Dynamics AX provides the current information on merchandising, but data on sales are unloaded in a system from the cash systems installed in each supermarket only once a day. Obtaining more operational information required the solution capable to integrate all data sources and to show information on sales in the mode close to real time, having covered, thus, requirements of the company for timely, relevant and qualitative analytics for support of acceptance of management decisions.

"We heard about QlikView from partners much, attended seminars on a system. However doubts remained as our tasks included integration of 34 geographically distributed data sources, at us in each shop the server of cash accounting is located. We needed confidence that a BI system not only will help to solve a problem of consolidation of data, but also will work in the future "like clock-work' therefore we decided to begin with the solution of several most critical tasks for which we should have collected data from Microsoft Dynamics AX and all cash databases in QlikView" — Rauf Enikeev, the deputy CEO for IT of the Retail SPAR company – "Comments on industry experience of ATK consulting group and availability of the BI solution for the companies of product retail of steel for us decisive factors in the choice of the partner in implementation of QlikView".

Data integration of ERP (Microsoft Dynamics AX) and 34 geographically distributed cash servers into QlikView became the first problem which was solved by specialists of ATK consulting group. The solution of this task helped SPAR to increase considerably quality of short-term planning of trade inventories – the companies became available the operational, updated several times a day data on actual balances in shops (before employees considered only the data relevant for yesterday).

Specialists of ATK consulting group also implemented the analysis of stability of the range by shops, suppliers, categories and nomenclature units of SPAR. "With QlikView our idea of the systems of a business intelligence cardinally changed. Users obtain data on the current situation in shops with minimum trudozatratamiya are always sure of quality of the provided information" — Rauf Enikeev added. Training in work with QlikView provided by specialists of ATK consulting group for IT department and key users of commercial department of SPAR became a final part of the project.

According to the results of implementation of tasks of merchandising in QlikView, we saw high potential of increase in efficiency of planning of trade inventories and already began to implement the following tasks on the basis of a system. At present application programming for the expanded analysis of checks, creditor and debit debts goes by forces of specialists of ATK consulting group together with IT specialists of SPAR company" — Maxim Vladimirov, the head of development of corporate information systems of the Retail SPAR company says.

Therefore even before start of the project in SPAR accurately understood that the company wants to receive from the QlikView system and as will use it further, and it is the BI project key to success. Development plans

According to Vladimirov in Spar still there were some business processes which continue to be executed by means of the tables MS Excel. "The management reporting at us is not automated yet and not integrated with main system, but it is a question only of the near future, - Maxim Vladimirov continued. - About new year we will obviously not be in time, but in 2013 all systems will be finally transferred to QlickView".

Spar will not attract external consultants or integrators to project completion. "The platform is rather simple and clear therefore we decided that we will manage by own efforts", - he concluded.
