IT Capital implemented the automation system a warehouse for AZ

Each company which is engaged in wholesale faced difficulties under the authority of financial and economic activity at large volumes of sales of goods. "The human factor" can become the reason of errors at shipment of goods and drawing up the accompanying documentation. Manual registration of transactions represents the big bureaucratic machinery leading to errors and unnecessary labor costs.

At the end of last year the AZ company, one of the largest distributors in the market of batteries and lighting engineering in Russia, made the decision on opening of a warehouse complex in St. Petersburg. The new complex of 4000 sq.m. was created for product acceptance and its distribution by all Russia. The portfolio of the AZ brands includes batteries, chargers, lamps and the GP Batteries accumulators and also lighting products of START, Philips and General Electric. The company is the European leader in GP Batteries products sales amounts. Considering large volumes of business, the company adopts the highest standards to the work. For this reason AZ decided to automate work of the St. Petersburg warehouse already at a start stage.

As the partner for work in automation the IT Capital company which proved in the IT market as the reliable partner in the largest projects was selected. After requirement analysis for creation of the automated control system for a warehouse and detailed studying of business processes of AZ, the IT Capital company suggested to use the standard solution "1C: Integrated Automation". The drawing solution allowed to automate management of warehouse stocks, address storage and purchase management within the single database.

However, as it often happens, the standard solution needed completion. In order that features of business processes of the specific company were considered, specialists of IT Capital added and significantly processed such functions as setup of topology of a warehouse, inventory of goods, optimization of placement of goods, blocking of cells, movement of goods, data entry about new positions of the nomenclature, creation of routes of placement and selection for employees. Also within the project the integration module with the automated system which is used for accounting of primary activity of AZ company was developed.

Development of the software product took less than a month. One more month took the system testing period with real cases in the mode of trial operation specialists of IT Capital. Today the warehouse complex works at full capacity. Automation allowed to increase customer service quality significantly. Besides, the efficiency and informational content on commodity accounting increased. Now a system allows to obtain timely information on a warehouse corresponding to real situation for the analysis of results and acceptance of management decisions.

At present IT Capital works on the next stage of cooperation with AZ – implementation in a warehouse of technology of barcoding a pallet, cells, racks and also implementation of mobile terminals of data collection. Considering successful operating experience of the automation system in St. Petersburg, in plans of AZ automation of warehouse and in other regions of Russia also appears.
