The Stavropol state agricultural university upgrades communications between employees the solution Lync

Softline implemented Microsoft Lync 2010 in the Stavropol state agricultural university.

Task

The management of IT department of the Stavropol state agricultural university was faced by a task: and in a short space of time to solve a number of the problems connected with IT infrastructure with the minimum labor costs. Among tasks it was necessary to reduce operating costs and to increase flexibility of work of IT infrastructure and also to increase efficiency and quality of communications between employees, teachers and students. The decision on implementation of a pilot project on system implementation of the joint communications using Softline company was so made.

Solution

In coordination with the customer engineers of Softline defined the following project objectives:

• creation of a system of a video conferencing for needs of department of distance learning of the university, receiving by specialists of university of practical experience of work with a system;
• connection of a test pool of users to a system, check of its technical functionality.

Having analyzed technical requirements of the customer, specialists of Softline suggested to implement the system of a video conferencing on the basis of the product Lync Server 2010 Standard Editions with selection of the boundary EDGE server.

Opinion

"Thanks to the project it was succeeded to implement the main task facing us: the organization of a possibility of distance learning for students, localities, being in remote from university. Will be trained using online and offline-lectures, online-seminars, intermediate remote testings, remote group work over the project, webinars, video trainings, audiolectures, etc. Students from the different cities will be able to study at our university far off, quickly, qualitatively, without spending at the same time time and money for moving. For training it is enough to have the computer and Internet access only. All this is implemented very simply: the student receives the link to a rate/lecture/seminar on e-mail, passes on it and it appears in the system of distance learning together with the teacher – there and there takes place further learning process", – the vice rector for the correspondence, intramural and extramural and additional education of the Stavropol state agricultural university Olga Lisova says.
